I'm curious if anyone has any experience with the Spring Precision Rear Sight optic mount.
Docter Burris Fast Fire dovetail mount - Glock Springfield Armory XD XDm
I am a huge fan of this idea. I get why you would want to mill a slide or inset the optic, but for price point this seems like a very viable option. And if i went with this i would remove the front sight as well.
Thoughts?

I apologize if this is in a another post. I did a few quick searches and didn't find this.

I am interested in Springer's mount for an RMR- went to the range the other day and got introduced to presbyopia... no fun :(

Interestingly, they run a lot less than other plates- I wonder if some of the adjustments that people described such as having to grind down screws have already been engineered out by Springer?

If you went with that mount you would remove the front sight, it would be pointless. It is a great option, but understand that if your optic fails you will be left to resort to point shooting. While the burris is a good/great optic, you will want to weigh this vs milling the slide if it's a gun you trust your life to.

I only want an optic because I can't see the front sight :)

There is a series of Glocks now available with the slide ready for an optic and a kit to attach the big four brand names. However, they run about 699 plus transfer, or 729 plus tax locally. Since the models they released are not the most popular (competition or "hunting?" and extra full size, like IDPA, we're talking new magazines etc etc etc.

I'm going to wait for the DeltaPoint Pro- it's a beast with a lot of valuable features like instant on and a BUIS attached. If I were to sit it on one of the new glocks, we'd be talking somewhere around 1400-1500 $$ by the time you'r up and running.

I figure for that kind of money, I can buy two DeltaPoint Pros and nearly mill a slide for a glock and an xd and outfit 2 weapons, for both of which I have plenty of magazines. Probably have to spring for front suppressor sites...Sometimes I can make them out if I don't try to focus or look at them too long...

There is a youtube video of a guy beating an XD with the dovetail mount plate and a trijicon RMR on it against a 4x4 like a hammer. Unfortunately, I vividly recall my brass punch accidentally sliding off the night sight I was trying to install, and chipping my slide where the edge of the dovetail - I wasn't wailing on it either...

So, I think I'll try to do the most robust installation so I don't get hit in the face by a flying RMR or chipped piece of slide...
