Okay guys I am going to be buying a XD Sub Compact or a Glock 26 or 27. I am on the fence but leaning more toward the Glock because of size and weight. Those two things are the most important for me. I am hoping for some other view points I may be missing. I am leaning toward a 40 over 9mm, but I am open to either one really

I do have a 4" XD 40 and love it, but I shoot Glocks just as well

Glock Advantages
Weight unloaded 19.75 ozs vs 26 ozs for the XD
Grip length 4.17" vs 4.75 for the XD
I know the Glock internals

XD Advantages
Grip more comfortable
I like the magazine extensions for the large capacity
in 9mm the XD holds more rounds than the Glock
Springfield Warranty

I would love to hear from someone who has or had both.

Shoot the glock in 40 and then the xd. When I lived in Pittsburgh a good friend of mine who was a Pittsburg cop carried the g27 as a bug. We went to the range as usual after I bought my xd sc 40. He took a few shots with it and immediately wanted to replace his g27. I could have gotten use to the g27, but I just could not get a good grasp on it even with his pierce extensions. I could only get about two fingers instead of three on the grip. To me it made it a little unmanagable. Shoot both because this is one where hand size does matter. The g27 is a good gun as long as it fits your hand size well. Three fingers meaning middle ring and pinky.

CCW007,

I have the XD9SC, XD40SC and I had the G26. I also have an XD45. I preferred the trigger on the G26 but I prefer the grip on the XDs. I like the way that the XD breaks down and the steel guide rods plus the metal sights. In the end I decided to stick with XDs. I don't think you can make a bad decision either way you decide to go.

I just recently had this same dilema....and holding both for hours on time I went with the XD 40 SC. You cant go wrong with the the nice package they give you (holster, mag loader, magazine clip, regular 9 round magazine, and the extended 11 round magazine) and the reputation of Springfield. I picked up the XD on Monday, and have put around 80 rounds thru it already. Went to the range with a friend that has the G 27, and shot his. I am VERY glad I went with the XD. But of course everyone is diferent. Go with what feels best to you.

I looked at both the xd40sc and the glock 26,27. The xd just looked like it was better quality, felt better in my hand, little lower price than glock. Had my xd40sc for over 2 years and never regretted it once.

I have a XD.40SC and absolutely love it!
Now i've never owned nor shot a G27, but it was down to it and the XD.40SC. I went to the store and handled both. It seemed like the G27 was nose heavy, not balanced in my hand. The XD.40SC felt like it was built specifically for my large hands and short fingers! It also felt very balanced and comfortable to grip.

Heres a personal experience that I can share as an example. I go to the range with my brother alot. He has a Beretta 92fs that he brings. I bring my XDm 9mm and my XD.40SC. I shoot the best with my XD.40SC over all. But when I shoot the Beretta, I actually shoot it just as well, with a better consistancy, then my XDm 9mm. The Beretta feels more "natural" when I shoot it, which I find suprising. With my XDm i'm having to watch my grip, and finger placement before and during shooting to shoot it well. The Beretta and the XD.40SC I can just pick up, point, shoot, and enjoy my results. Do I feel that the Beretta is a better made or quality gun, then the XDm...? Heck No, but in my hands it is, because the end result is what matters.
Also here is an article I saved during my research that helped me even bring the XD Sub Compact into my equation. I was ready to buy a Glock G27 before reading this. Springfield XD Sub-Compact

My opinion:

- in the sub compact (XDsc vs Glock 26 or 27). The XD is the better pick due to capacity and better grip

- once you get over the sc models then it's a toss up and really just personal preference

I have a Glock 19 and a XDsc9mm and really like both of them.

I have a glock 23 and love it but I just bought the xdm 3.8 9mm as my carry gun. So far I love the gun and very happy with, i had to do some customizing to the glock to get it to where I wanted it to perform where as the xdm performed better out of the box, I know Im comparing 9mm to .40 but both cartridges are better than having nothing at all
