You gonna get another? I understand the bitter taste in your mouth but that gun was an outlier. The vast majority are good to go.
I like mine especially with the PRP trigger.

final update: springfield issued me a full refund and they kept the gun. thanks for everyone's input.
Please let us know what they told you and if they told you what was wrong . Any information will help us other Xd guys and thanks for letting us know all the information so far.

I have a "full size" XDM 4.5" in .40, and a XDM Compact 3.8" in 9mm, and after thousands of rounds in classes and practice with zero failures of any sort. The only malfunctions I have had were instructor forced as he created double-feeds or whatever for practice clearing etc. Out of anything I have run, my two XDM's have had no problems of any sort, including running cheap steel cased ammo that caused a Glock and a S&W to choke.

Yeah, I'm in the never had that issue club. The two XDM 9MM pistols I have never, ever had a failure to feed, failure to fire or failure to extract/eject issue with hand loads, factory loads, 115 grain to 147 grain, jacketed or lead bullets.

So far the XD 45 has not had a failure to feed/extract/eject. Failure to fire, yes, but that's another issue.

I had this issue with a Ruger 40 cal before, they replaced the extractor, actually they sent me the extractor and I replaced it.

I'd tweek the extractor first, and the suggestions TSiWRX said were spot on.
Vary mags, vary ammo, have a buddy try it to eliminate yourself from the equation.
Sounds to me like a simple extractor fix though.
Good luck.

There's some things that can only be learned from putting that many rounds downrange. Good stuff.

I've heard/seen GreyBeard Actual on P&S, but didn't know anyone who had attended one of their classes until just now. How did you like it? If you would be so kind as to frame that reply (if you have the time to reply, that is, don't worry if you don't!) in terms of your other classes/competition experience (or "just" life experience ;)), I would definitely appreciate it. :)

It was pretty good. He shots competitively and he can definitely explain the little tricks to become a better competitor. I’m not interested in competition but I wanted to reinforce my fundamentals from that class. Shooting is a perishable skill if you don’t practice and I like to get training anytime I can. He was a supervisor on my team. I am a LEO 14 years and assigned to a SWAT team for last 5 years.

^ Thank you!

I should be able to get on the road to out-of-state classes in about 4 more years: I've been compiling a list of whos/wheres.

I think I'll definitely be making as stop there! :)

I'm looking to start competition this spring/summer, finally.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Stay safe out there.

I have had this issue recently , turned out ammunition , Hornady critical defense 1000 fps muzzle Finally took a screwdriver and forced barrell block and slide apart slightly very easy to do , double checked to see if it was ammo yep had to do screwdriver trick again , shot Winchester the rest of the afternoon no problem

Has anyone else had jamming issues with their 9 mm XD-M? the empty casings aren't ejecting out of the gun, they are getting stuck and the gun jams when trying to load the next round. I sent the gun back to Springfield and they 'fixed it', but now the second time I've gone to the range since I got it back it is doing it again. Out of my last 90 rounds, it jammed 4 times. Unacceptable! I sent the gun back in again two weeks ago and now I'm being told they can't duplicate the problem? I'm getting pretty frustrated and feel like I've lost my trust in the gun. I've tried several different types of ammo, btw. thanks
Ammo problem
