Back the middle of March I stripped my Saiga down to a barreled receiver, packaged it and all the need parts to have it converted to an AK-103 and shipped it off.

Today the rifle made it's way back to me and a PK-01VS followed it home.
My thanks to Mr. John Sbandi, the full time dedicated AK builder at Middletown Firearms for a very nice transformation.

I assumed you had a Sporter model. Totally didn't expect a "conversion" from standard to standard. You didn't even need bullet guide.

Glad you're happy with the gun. How does it shoot?
Again, maybe next weekend it'll see the range.

Well once upon a time it was a Sporter abortion.
Then it went through a few bastardized conversions with bolt-on this and that into something resembling an AK rifle. In the first conversion I drilled, tapped and screwed a bullet guide in.

But this was the real deal AK103 conversion with Russian parts.

Stupid question… why? I have the same Saiga AK47. I haven’t even heard of the AK-103. Is it not available to the civilian market? its Very cool.

Now I’ll have to do some research. I thought it was factory converted to pistol grip. Other than that, I don’t know much about it. I took the original butt stock off myself and put on an Archangel adjustable stock. I have the original. It has the longer black plastic fore end on it. It’s not the short one like is on yours.

You've a Saiga Sporter rifle that isn't fully converted (restored) to a traditional AKM/AK100 series.
There's nothing wrong with that, it is functional as is. You can further modify it it as you please, tactical or traditional, or leave it alone and enjoy it.
An easy mod to make to that configuration is vents to help cool it down faster.
