Ruger LCP 2nd gen vs LCP Custom vs Bodyguard

Anyone have or shot both of these guns or have the Ruger LCP 2nd gen (supposedly the one without the - in the serial number) Just wondering if the trigger pull is similar to the 'custom'

I have the Bodyguard, the gun seems built better, but the trigger pull absolutely sucks! I know these pocket pistols have heavy trigger pulls due to small pocket concealment as sort of a 'safety feature' from what I read. I shot the LCP 2nd gen and the trigger pull is MUCH better than the bodyguard and even thought the LCP is lighter, I didnt think it had as much recoil. The gun did have the Hogue grip on it which probably helped.

Anyway any help appreciated!
Thinking on buying one, but wanted to compare the LCP 2nd Gen to the LCP custom, but cant find one in stock anyplace near me to look or shoot.

Thanks!

Thanks. I traded the Bodyguard for the LCP. MUCH happier. IMO S&W really screwed that gun up with the trigger on the thing. Anyway, the LCP is easily more concealable by design and I also shot it better. I know they are not range guns, but still need to get the feel for them and shoot them. Anyway, I like the LCP, if only the slide would stay open on the last round it would be perfect (for me)

I have a Gen 1 LCP (made in 2010 with a '-' in the S/N) and it shoots fine. I have a Custom(red trigger) and it shoots fine. People get all hung up on the LCP's trigger. The LCP does what it was designed to do, they are not range toys IMO. I personally think the LCP sucks to shoot, but they are reliable, and that is all I ask of them.

I was just curious if there was any noticable difference in the trigger pull in each gun model. Now theres a new one...lol The trigger on mine doesnt bother me, its acceptable IMO. MUCH better than the S&W and even though I always hear 'its not a range gun' I still like to practice shooting what I carry, so to me YES it is a range gun.
I added a Hogue grip and its shoots nicely for me. And YES it is reliable, shoots everything I've put in it. Thanks for the replies.

I was looking around yesterday, picked up a couple Kahrs, I cant rememer if it was a CM9 or a different model, I liked the size and feel of the gun, but the trigger pull break was too far back for my liking. Any pointers which has the shorter trigger pull?
If I can get a 9mm (not overpriced) that is nearly as compact as the LCP I'd definately pick one up.
Thanks

I have the original LCP. Have been very happy with it . I have A CT laser on it and it is much clearer and brighter then the one on the S&W. My wife also has one, she is about 125# and can not believe how many men ***** about the LCP recoil.
The reason is quite obvious.

Small gripped pistols are harder for larger hands to properly grip and, therefore, control. It has nothing to do with the recoil impulse on its own.

I think a stout .44 mag tickles...but I hate tiny .380's.

I own all three mentioned in the OP's first post. In order, I prefer the LCP Custom, LCP 2nd Gen then the BG. I will say that I slightly prefer the BG to the 1st Gen LCP, which I also own. But not by much. Also, my all 4 have Crimson Trace lasers. A must, IMO, for these guns.

Thanks for the info/opinions guys. The only reason Im looking for a pocket gun is because of my job and cant always wear one on the belt. These lil guys are obviously easier to conceal, which is why Im looking for a similar size gun.
I think I have it narrowed down to the LCP2 (newest model) and the Kahr in 9mm which I would prefer over the .380 anyway.

Have you looked at the LC9s? It's not much bigger than the LCPII and it shoots cheaper 9mm.

All Kahr tr8ggers are about the same. The Gen 2 pistols, if you can find them are supposed to have a much different trigger.

I much prefer the Kahrs to an LCP trigger though.

The LCP II is supposed to be much nicer though.
Thanks DevJames, after pondering for a bit, I probably shouldnt be expecting a short trigger pull on a pocket pistol anyway, its sort of a built in 'safety' feature so the Kahr might be the ticket since I can get it in 9mm. I'll go to the range and see if they have both to rent as a trial run.

So, did you make a purchase? I've had 5 Kahrs (still have the CM9 and still rue the day I traded away the cadillac MK9) and I liked all of them. Yes, they have a long trigger pull, but it's smoooooth as butter. Recoil is a non-issue, IMO. It's not harsh at all. I'm entertaining the LCP II for my wife to try. We have the Keltec P3AT already, but at the sale price of $199 at PSA (when it comes back in stock!) that's haaard to beat.

If H had won, it might’ve been profitable.

But when you have big companies that are in trouble because they set up new plants (Remington, Ruger...) a few years ago, and now the gun market has taken a huge downturn and they can’t recoup their investments...

It’d be a really stupid move.
