Linear Comp vs. Blast Can vs. Naked Barrel

Are either appreciably "better" than a crowned barrel?

How do they compare? flash hiding only?

I am not concerned about kick or muzzle climb. I am concerned about concussion direction and mildly concerned about visible flash. I have a conical blast can now on my 300 pistol. what would would be different if I spring for a linear comp?

I've got an 300 pistol I plan to try hunting, and have ready as a home defense weapon. seems like it would be a good thing to have the noise directed away from the shooter as tightly as possible.
The impossible ideal perfection would sound like a suppressor outside the path of the bullet and blast what is left after the bullet strike with a focused sound wave. It wouldn't suppress the noise, right?

I have noticed my 5.56 mid with a birdcage is noticeably louder than the 300 pistol with a can when shooting supersonics. I would assume the 300 should be a touch louder (shorter barrel and larger hole), so most of that is the flash can vs. the birdcage.

Do the linear comps do a better job of focusing the sound energy forward? and do they do a better job with the flash? I would assume they do better with the flash, but have no idea about sound direction.

I am talking about at the operator, I can tell a difference with muffs on. I do not want worse and would prefer better. Assuming I can get the same level of sound direction control, I would want what gives the most flash suppression.

Has anyone tried both styles? The conical bore flash can and the forward facing holes device style linear comp?

I suspect the general style you have there would be the best for flash, but the removable shroud set-up would not work without my changing the hand-guard too, as the grip is longer than the barrel. Looks like about $350 all said and done, a significant portion of my firearms budget. I think I'd rather jump up to an actual sound suppressor at that point. Probably aught to go there anyways, but first I'd have to see if using a silencer to shoot a squirrel without the proper license would still be a 30 year felony in my state.

If the state doesn’t nail you, the feds will...simple possession w/o paperwork is still a federal felony.

If you’re going to get a suppressor...do it right.
No the state law at least used to say something like "Any crime committed with a suppressor adds on a 30 year felony". It was any crime (like killing a squirrel without the proper license), not just a felony. I know the suppressor laws have changed somewhat in the last couple of years, so it might not still be the case. I don't want to put myself in a situation where some minor infraction becomes a felony, even if it saves me from hearing aids.
