To the OP;
As stated, I'd suggest a 3 inch 1911 over either the Kahr PM45 or the XDs for a 45ACP.
The XDs is going to have the same crappy trigger as the XD/XDm currently has.
The Kahr, probably similar to the PM9 I once owned, that was ok.
I still favor a 1911...

Crappy trigger? I suppose when compared to a good 1911 trigger, but I sure wouldn't call my XDM trigger crappy! People need to remember that guns designed for concealed carry have longer, and a bit heavier triggers for reasons of safety and avoiding negligent discharges, not to mention civil liability. I hope the XD-S DOES have a trigger like an XDM. Just my 2 cents worth here.
