first wait and see if you have any problems with it...and if it wears off or begins to have a bit of rust then send it in for warranty refinish....but if you send it in just because you will be charged for it...not all the xd have the problem its just a select few...i know you hear allot about it but its really not that big of a problem as it may seem....just wait and see....if you are having problems then i can give you a rep that has served several people on this board and were well taken care of...oh and WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!! or you can look up the topic "called springfeild" and that is all about my problem and how sa handled it and the rep that helped me out and if i am not mistaken her e-mail address is there as well...

logan-

Welcome to the board.

I have had my XD for several years now and its finish is still in good condition, even after a year of concealed carry use.

Obviously there are many people who are vocal about saying that the finish is less that perfect and they are probably correct. But time will truly tell if your XD in your mode of use will require special care or refinishing, or nothing at all.

I would doubt that holster wear would be covered by warranty, but I could be wrong. I'd recommend Blue Wonder Armadillo if you want to be sure there will be no rust. You can buy it from some forum sponsors and this stuff will protect the gun bettern than anything I've ever seen. If you arent familiar with it, it is applied much like a car wax, but it is much much more durable. For the price, you cant go wrong. A lot cheaper than having the gun refinished.

Welcome to the forum. For about two years now, about twice a month, I apply TetraGun to the slide, let it sit for about two minutes, then wipe off. I've never had any finish issues. Some minor holster wear, but I prefer to call it "character" :) .
