Luckily my FFL was around to do the transfer on Sunday for my gun that he got late Saturday when I was unable to go get it. Took it to the range to do a quick check it out. I had factory loads with me and I did not have one issue with it. After reading some other posts I wonder how it could produce a light strike because the dent by my firing pin is deep, and kind of flat looking like a very tiny chisel hit the primer.

I was concerned with the grip after reading over and over how the pattern bothered them when they fired it. Maybe after a few hundred rounds but after 50 or so I fired through it so far I have not noticed the grip one bit.

I did notice that the curve at the back of the grip likes to hit my knuckle on the thumb but careful hand placement cut back on the number of times I got hit. This issue was a pretty big concern to me as I know that the gun could lead to a flinch when I pull the trigger. I read another post on this topic and they suggested a smaller back plate which I had already done when seeing that to place my finger on the trigger the way that I like I had to slid my hand forward just enough so that that curved part would hit my knuckle. I did not get to fire it yet to see if this will be the solution for me as it was for the other poster.

Interestingly this gun was test fired on 9/11/2013. Interesting or creepy not sure which but hopefully a good omen. My knuckle is pretty tender and sore right now so I hope the new back-strap fixes it all. I put some lub on it but it seemed very smooth right out of the box.

Putting the action back on was more challenging that I thought it would be but after several ties I got the gun back together. I imagine as the release lever loosens up and I get some practice it will work fine.

Glad to hear you like the XDs, You have a great FFL to deal with, I have never been able to geta gun on sunday.
"Gettting the action back on" part of your post, kinda struck me, I guess you meant the slide, it should slide on the frame without effort, with the mag OUT and the trigger NOT having reset, OR-- maybe I didn`t understand what you were saying.
Anyway a great gun you have.

The FFL is great and actually was the one who told me about the 3 clip deal that Springfield had going on. Even on their site it is hard to find out that they have a deal going on.

Anyway, when I went to put the slide back on the release switch would click back up. and the slide would not go on all the way. I finally figured out what I needed to do but as I write this I am not sure what that was. On my other gun you just put the slide on and pull it all the way back and you are good to go. I need to take it apart and put it back together a few times so I have it down. Even taking the slide off is not straight forward as my other gun PX4 as yo have to pull the trigger which might not be totally intuitive. At least to me it was not. But the issue I had did not seem to be referenced in the manual other than warning you not to force the slide back on. Not a big deal as how often do you remove the slide and secondly what ever steps you need to follow are just part of learning the gun.

One other thing I did not mention is how far it ejects its empty cases. My other one shoots them out pretty far. I was kind of hoping that this gun would not be so enthusiastic. But the distance is probably even further. I pick up my brass so I can reload them and finding them is a challenge sometimes in the dirt and rocks that I shot in.

Lastly this gun seems far more tolerant of different ammo. I have not had any issues with ammo whereas the other gun seems pretty particular. Especially loading the first bullet which often enough jams. During firing it is not a big fan of my reloads but the XDS churned through them without even a slight hint of trouble. They were my test rounds to see what charge to build for the gun so you add in the variation from min charge to near maximum charge which by choice I usually stay under.

Now if I can figure out how to not hit the first knuckle of my thumb I will be one happy guy.
