I've recently purchased an XDm 45. Love the gun, but finding a holster is a headache. I like kydex holsters but have yet to find anyone producing XDm holsters and no one producing XDm 45's.

If anyone has purchased one or knows someone willing to make one, please let me know. I am sure other people are having the same issue (pictures would be appreciated).

Thanks,

-Jim

Unless you are fitting a long barreled model into a closed muzzle short barrel design holster, all holsters that fit any XD/XDm fit all XD/XDm. With an open muzzle holster, same model fits all XD/XDm. Fitting a holster to a pistol with a mounted light or laser will present more problems and limited selection. Any of the site sponsors as well as just about any aftermarket retailer will have a selection of XD/XDm holster styles.
This is almost like saying you can't find a tire brand that fits on a Ford car or you can't find 9mm ammo that fits an XDm 9mm 3.8 model.

You never specified what type of holster. IWB, OWB?

The XDm 45 has a slightly longer overall slide length. 7.75" in the XDM 45 and 7.6" in the XDM 9 and 40.

I was not looking for a open muzzle option. The XDm 45 is actually longer than the 9 and 40 models 7.75" adn 7.6" respectively. So an XDM 45 will not fit in a closed muzzle model kydex holster made for a XDM 9 or 40.

Thanks,

-Jim

I would NOT use an XD-specific Kaydex holster with an XDm. Yes, they will fit, but you can expect unusual wear patterns on the slide. Blade Tech makes XDm-specific holsters, as do others.

WARNING: Unless Blade Tech has changed their web site ordering, you order an XD holster, which is the only XD choice, and in the comments section SPECIFY it is for an XDm. This was told to me on the phone by a CS person at BT. I did that, and twice they sent the wrong holster. They did correct the problem with profuse apologies, and the XDm-specific holster fits much better than the XD-specific holster.

So... you know of Crossbreed. Why don't you go with them? They are great holsters and the can make a nice custom holster that will make your belt happy.

I have to put in a recommendation for Tommy Theis at theisholsters.com. He makes custom IWB kydex/leather holsters. I ordered on June 4th and got my holster yesterday. Very good communication in all parts of the process, even before I purchased.

I don’t really have a great reason for disliking the crossbreed type. I do not want leather against my body is my other main reason. Sweat holds into leather, but I have heard very good reviews on the crossbreeds. Alabamaholster website looks like they make some great stuff at a good price, ravens might be a good option as well considering they can be both IWB and OWB with a hardware change.

Thank you everyone for your input. I will probably make up my mind this weekend. So if anyone has any more suggestions I would appreciate it and I am sure others would appreciate it as well.

Just an update on my search....I contacted several holster companys and few carry an XDM 45 or will be willing to make one at this time because of the different dimensions. Raven cannot make one yet, same with Pitbullholsters, sensery gun leather and bravo custom holsters.

Alabama holsters is the only company I have contacted who has the ability to make a kydex custom holster in XDM 45.

If anyone has a custom kydex holster for an XDM 45 let me know.

i dunno, most gun holster manufacturers would say this is def. untrue

i have been searching for one too and my only options require 4-6 weeks which will not do.

comp-tac says nothing they make fits xdm .45 4.5"
crossbreed says it needs to be custom = 4-6 weeks
many ebay manufacturers don't make one to fit .45

I have a Bladetech IWB that fits 4.5 inch 9/40 - I recently purchased the XDM 5.25 Comp - and just trimmed off the end with a chop saw so the extra .5 inch could travel out the end, fits fine now.

I have an XDM .45 coming in today I will let you know if that fits in this holster as well. If so then Bladetech would be your best choice time wise. Not sure about Comp-Tac

This past weekend my I finally made up my mind on my holster made by..........myself no one wanted to make a custom xdm 45 holster the way I wanted so I put it on myself. Turned out pretty well if I must say so myself.
So your saying you just made a Kydex holster by yourself and your not a holster maker - I'm more than confused. Or did you retrofit an XDM holster you already had?
