After a year of waiting, I found the XD for me.

I got a XD9SC BiTone, with the Gear Up pack (15rd extended magazine and roto-paddle holster) with that shiny slide and the Lansing, MI gun show for $429 + tax.

Off to the range soon, to test and check.
