I've never shot the CZ but I hear they are good pistols. I think the strong point of the XD is the trigger. Right out of the box the trigger is pretty sweet.
XD9 compared to CZ75B?
Greetings to all as a first time poster to this forum.
I am seriously considering the purchase of an XD9. How am I going to like it compared to my CZ75B? If it's as good as the CZ I will be very pleased, because that's a heckuva pistol, very accurate and durable. What are some opinions from people who have had exposure to both. By the way, the XD won't be replacing the CZ, but augmenting it.

I think you'll find the only difference between the CZ 75 and the XD is the weight. About the same grip angle and feel to it, but the XD is polymer where the CZ 75 is steel. Also the XD is single action as opposed to the traditional double action of the CZ, so the trigger is the same feel for each shot.
In my mind the XD is way better. Lighter and better shooting. They fit like a glove. I have a hard time holding a Glock now that i own all XD's. you will not regret buying an XD
You should be able to pick up a CZ 75B for about $360-380 and it is one of the finest 9mm available when compared to a Browing Hi Power, Sig 226 or Beretta. The EAA Witness is a clone of the CZ that can be had for even less and in a 10mm. The feel of a CZ, to me at least, is much better than any other gun I have ever held. That being said, I buy what I like to shoot and not safe queens. My XD 40 Service has not been out in awhile because I have been shooting the G17 and Steyr M9 as well as my HK USP 45 & G30. I have alot of 45acp & 9mm but not that many 40S&W.
With the first shot on the cz75 I do have trouble reaching the trigger, all the single action shots are no problem becuase the trigger moves back a little and is in the perfect position for me. If you can test one and see if you can reach the trigger in the double action position.

Gary, would you please explain that apparent contradiction? Are you saying the heavier weight of the CZ is more advantageous in competitive shooting? Other than that, I can't see where that statement makes sense. Thanks.

My dad bought a CZ-75 P-01 after I bought my XD-9. The accuracy is the same on both weapons, CZ-75 is a pain in the ass to take down compared to the XD-9, however the CZ-75 has a better "feel" to me. It's a fun target shooter, but I'd never use a CZ-75 for defensive purposes, just to fragile.
The CZ-75 is about as fragile as a hammer.

At a tactical pistol course, it only took a few hundred rounds (much of it rapid fire) before the CZ went kaput. Have both, love both, wouldn't trade either. The XD's biggest advantage compared to the CZ is the lighter weight. So less of a chore to carry. Either will serve you very well indeed. And yes the XD is very accurate. As you know it's hard to beat a CZ for accuracy. But the XD is close. The XD grip is probably slightly better. But the CZ is probably the best double stack metal gun out there. Some would argue the Hi Power is better. But your getting more rounds with the CZ. I doubt you will be dissapointed, I can almost guarantee it will become one of your favorite guns.

The only reason I even clicked this thread is that I OWN one (P-01), so I am speaking from experience. Don't believe me, feel free to contact www.tacticalresponse.com and ask how the CZ's hold up in their tactical courses compared to Glocks. Seriously, ask for James Yeagers experiences and observations. I assure you that they are fragile compartively speaking to a Glock or an XD.
Most of the instructors for TR post at www.getoffthex.com and I highly encourage you to talk to them about their experiences with CZ's or other guns outside of Glocks and XD's before judging me to be "incorrect". Like I said though, the gun is good for plinking at the range, but heavy use in anything like a tactical course and you risk problems.
Plus I'd like to here about what other post was "incorrect" rather than my first, as I only stated an observation in the second, so I suppose you are calling me a liar.

We can agree to disagree. I am not calling you a liar nor wanting to argue. Just posting my feelings about the CZ, the most issued/used service pistol in the world, that they are not fragile IMO. I would hope that you would like the P-01 since you bought one but I thought you posted that it was your Dad's and not yours.
I mispoke, I meant to say I own one in my possession, not that I own it, however the gun is still my fathers. Being a senior in college, I have more free time to go to the range and he doesn't get out to the range much, so he gave it to me to use over the last few semesters.

Okay, I just want to be sure I understand this. Your dad's CZ has been 100% reliable over the course of a couple thousand rounds, but it's too 'fragile' for 'defensive purposes.' You hold this opinion because you saw a different model CZ fail once after a few hundred rounds of rapid fire. (Which makes me wonder how many rounds you think you'll have to fire in a defensive situation, but nevermind.)
