Well, I just put the Pearce bottoms on five of my .45acp mags. Haven't had a chance to shoot the Tactical with them installed yet, but will post results ASAP. I have only tried loading 14rnds so far. Might be able to squeeze in 15, but it would mean a hard push on the mag loader for sure. I may never try loading that 15th round. These gadgets do seem to provide a better grip if I lower my left hand a little. Still have to see how that works....DanM
I bought two Pearce +2 extensions, just waiting for them to arrive. I will put them to the test next range session. If they are reliable, I will put them on more magazines. If not, into the trash they go . Only out 16 bucks.,
Well, our weather has not been good enough for any real testing of the mags with the pearce extensions. I did run thru three of the 'new' mags off the back porch when the rain let up and two ran fine with loads that had worked well before. One was loaded with untried ammo made for my 1911, and I had two failure to return to battery problems. My 1911 runs these RCBS 200SWCs fine, but it is older and has a generous chamber. I am pretty sure that these failures were not mag related, and the problem loads were either a little too fat, or the OAL needs adjustment with these specific bullets for the XD. Both failures were fixed with a quick bump to the back of the slide, pushing the cartridges home for full lock up. I like the way the Pearce gadgets match the texture of the XD front strap, and have a factory look to them. I did try shifting my support hand (left) down so that the back of my pinkie knuckle rested on the extension, and that felt good for the brief test session. Having used other Pearce products with good results, I expect the same from these. More range time will tell...DanM
