Is it normal for the XD-40 4" service model to have a very tight magazine when loaded to the point you have to push up on the bottom plate of the magazine in order to get it to release? Is this normal? If so, please let me know that this is just a trait of this particular weapon because I have owened several automatics and not had this problem.

Thanks in advance for your response.

My 40 came with 2 10rnd mags and they are ALOT easier to load to capacity than the 12rnd ones. I have 4-12rnd mags and all are very stiff. I use the 10rnd mags at the range and have shot the 12 only for purpose of making sure the gun does not have a problem with them. It is very common that the 12rnd mags are stiff. Leave them loaded for a month or 2 is what has been suggested.

My .40 is still pretty new, and I've had no issues getting the mag to drop. Stupid question, but have you checked your magwell for any obstruction? Even a clingy piece of styrofoam might cause what you're describing.
