Just got my pistol back from Canyon Creek and just the feel of the trigger has made me ecstatic ...and I haven’t even shot it yet! I plan on using my XD40 service for IDPA and CCW use.

This is what I had done

•Dawson Precision F/R, FO adjustable sights
• Don’s guide rod and spring
• Extended mag release installed
• Trigger Pull reduced
• Trigger over travel stop reduced
• Trigger pre Travel/Reset reduced

First impression, without firing one round, is WOW!!! I mean, I can’t wipe the smile off my face at the difference, the trigger work is a MUST HAVE. My 10yr. old son thinks I’m crazy, but once I showed him the difference between my Glock trigger and the XD, he started smiling almost as much as I was. So if a 10yr. old can appreciate the difference, I’m sure any novice shooter will.

The sights are incredible, target acquisition is much faster and the extended mag release has sped up my reloads just in the 15 or so minutes I have been practicing. As for turn around time, CC received the gun on the 2/14 and he shipped it on 2/21. That is extremely quick turnaround for such high quality work. Hats off to Rich at Canyon Creek, I HIGHLY recommend him.

Tank,

I was the same way. The first time I pulled the trigger on my first XD that had a Canyon Creek trigger job, I just smiled. It is hard to explain to folks how much of a difference it makes. Just wait to you shoot it. Your groups will be tighter and your time between rounds will be faster.

You said it, "Wow".

Old School

PS: You now have yourself a Monster XD.

paraphrased... "Hey tank, I wanna gun whore and you have something I want to play with"

not that this is a bad thing by any stretch. I do it all the time to my buddy w/ the Barret. :) sof far it's only worked once tho.

So what division will you be shooting in IDPA now? Does that bump you to ESP, or CDP? I don't think a trigger job changes anything, but the rod and extended mag release do, don't they?

A 'stock' XD, straight from Croatia, is classified by IDPA as ESP. I believe because of the firing mechanism. I think an unmoded XD should fall into SSP, and any minor upgrades would then bump it to ESP. Then further upgrades bump to CDP.

My XD9 5" should be getting to Canyon Creek today or tomorrow. I planning to shoot USPSA with it so all the work should really help my scores. Last year I used my XD40 service and still did pretty good, but the guys with the Glock 34s and 35s did have an advantage on me.

I will be getting most of the same work that you had done. I think the only differences are I am having all the metal pieces refinished in silver, and I am adding the tungsten guide rod. Rich said that I can have up to 2 oz extra weight in the front of the gun. All in all this should be the perfect gun of any shooting game. I am guessing I will have my gun in a week or so. I am planning to post pics and a range report.

The XD always has been and always shall be in ESP. Can't go to CDP as it is not made in .45ACP. It is ESP due to its stiker mechanism.

My local IDPA group classified the XD as SSP last match. I don't know if that came from the head office or not.

I'm pretty sure the XD still resides in the ESP division, either way, I can live with it. From some of the other forumn, i'm told ESP is a tougher class...I say "BRING IT ON". :D I'm shooting for fun, if things get to competitive, i'll think about upgrading.

As for IPSC, I use a G34 in production and a G35 in Limited. I'm seriously considering getting another G34 and turning it into an open gun, I just haven't hit the lottery yet.

Hey PolarBear, PM on it's way.

They made a mistake. It should be in ESP and only ESP.

Have you shot it since the trigger job? How much have your groups decreased? What was your trigger pull weight reduced to?

I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions. I'm considering a trigger job myself.
