Just recieved my confirmation of my entry in the xd skills match. Hope all you xders are signing up for this match. The price is right in fact if you think about it there is no way you could go to a range , rent all these guns and buy ammo for the as much as your entry fee. The reps from springfield will be there so here is a good time to twist their ear. Get a hold of Mr.Twisted and he will send you the poop on signing up. And above all Mr. Twisted has made this clear, this is going to be one big paaarrrrrtttyyy !!!!!!

Hi Ron,
this match sounds like great fun and seems to be growing exponentially. I do have one question that might be of interest to the forum. I have a friend who is a beginning shooter who is interested in this match. Also my wife, who is not terribly proficient with handguns is interested. To clarify, my wife completed Civilian Army Training in the Philippine army and is very proficient with an M16/AR15 and M1 carbine. My question is this; is this match "beginner friendly" Thanks a lot...

Yes, the match was designed for the novice in mind. The greatest draw back maybe slowing up 250 other shooters a bit but If she can handle a gun and walk down range with her finger out of trigger guard without getting rattled, I've got no problem with it. A certified range officier will be with her or you every step of the way. Your guardian shadow in a way. Springfield and the other sponsors want everyone to use the guns and enjoy themselves. Why else do it! Send me your address and I'll send you the match diagram and you judge for yourself. Cost you nothin and me 37 cents but I'll gamble you'll send me a match application. Now the 3 stage night match is different, we'll be shooting in near total darkness with flash lights and tactical illuminators so you'll need to be more advanced, but there will be displays, exhibit areas, and other things to do for the night spectators. Bring your family down it will be great fun. I forgot to mention in other threads that we also have a world class sporting clays range there, bring down the old scatter gun too. :) E-mail [email protected] :p By the way your wife might just walk home with her very own XD, can you live with that. Her chances are as good as anyone elses.. That's the beauty of the match.

My husband forgot to mention that in addition to the novice classs we also have a ladies class and a junior class. So you could sign up in 3 catagories, Overall, Ladies, and Novice. There is also a family rate so when the first member signs up @ $75 the additional members (husband, wife, children etc. in a family household) shoot for $40. Such a deal!!

Mr. and Mrs. Twisted,
it sounds good. In fact, it sounds a little like the Glock Matches. My wife can frequently outshoot me with a rifle, I am glad to hear that you are appealing to female shooters. In Cebu, where we live on our mango farm part of the year, combat shooting is not academic. In the next island over from Cebu,Bohol, The New People's Army ambushed a military garrison. In Mindanao the Abu Sayyaf Group is still up to mischief. Life is never dull...
