Greetings all XD-S fan boys...I've been struggling without success to determine the thickness of the XD-S 45 Auto's top of slide to bottom of accessory rail. The pix shows exactly what I'm looking for, the gun is the XD-Mod2 Subcompact in 40S&W. This measurement is 1.7". View attachment 879281
Out of curiosity, why did you need to know this information?

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I'm planning to add a single stack 45 Auto to my 45 CCW collection. I have XD-Mod 2 Subcompact's in 40S&W and 45Auto. These are really nice shooting guns but, in my hands, they are very top heavy and feel bulky. I only occasionally carry the 40 shown in the picture and seldom carry the 45. The XD-S in 45 is on my RADAR as a CCW in 45 Auto but I don't want another bulky feeling Mod-2. Finding one to put in my hand at a LGS is almost impossible. Every shop around here seems to stock just Glocks. That's why I'm interested in knowing that dimension, 1.6" is only a slight advantage over the Mod-2's 1.7".

BTW, my current subcompact 45 Auto carries are the Shield 45 and Kahr CW45. I've looked at a G36 but found it to be too big for CCW. I might consider a Khar PM45 or CM45. On the other hand, I might just stay with my Glock 27 with 200 grain Speer Gold Dots as it's practically a "45 magnum".
You are rotating between all several single stack and subcompact 45s you own? That's a 9+1 Mod 2 and G27 and a 6+1 Shield and CW45.

If Kahr made an all steel MK45 or K45, I'd carry that. Right now I EDC a K40. I have owned a Shield 9mm, 40s&w, 45acp, and Shield Plus. The Shield and feel of the 45 Shield is the best IMHO. I put a mag through a friend of mine's XDS 45 several years ago, but didn't like it. I wanted one until I fired his. The Shield is way more softer shooting. I'm not a fan of Glocks, so the G27 was never on my radar.
