About two years ago I had an XD .357 and a sub 9mm.I did have to polish the feed ramps they were a little rough and tool marks but worked perfect.I started reading the sig cult forum and traded them for two sigs, bad mistake.Sig does have good service.I traded them for an XD 9mm bitone service in November and a sub in december. My son bought a 9mm service in November.I noticed the feed ramps are highly polished and tool marks gone. The quality is far better that the sigs. The sig barrels looked like they had been thru a wood chipper.Any way the XD's seem to have had a big step up in tooling.I also like my CZ's and have two in .40.One is going in on trade for an XD in some model .40.A decision I can't decide on yet, maybe a 5" for the house gun???

I don't care too much for the tactical. It seems way too long to me. Personally, I would go with the service, as you can conceal carry that one more easily. Accuracy isn't too much different and I think the service is more versatile in the conceal carry aspect. Even if you don't plan on carrying it, to me, its always nice to have the option.

The XD's are such good quality because they are NOT made by Springfield.
Springfield Armory makes some of the best .45's and Garands you can buy.

If you like the 1911 the tactical is the perfect wondernine gun... I love long slides and am very happy with my tactical so far. To me the ballance is just right. If you aren't going to carry the weapon, in my opinion the longer the better. Better accuracy, better velocity, longer sight picture, less muzzle flip, you can use 1911 springs (= more options). A real neat gun. I (like you) got mine as a "house" gun as well.

That is funny as hell.

They may make some decent 1911 pistols but anyone that knows Garands would NEVER buy one of their piece of **** Garands.

How can you possibly assume a SA INC Garand is quality compared to GI?

Which Garand would you buy then?

The barrel and reciever are Springfield Inc. made in their Garands. The rest of the parts are G.I. Now a new barrel is going to be heaps and leaps, in general, over a G.I. barrel. That leaves the reciever on the Springfield Inc. How does the Springfield Inc. reciever differ in construction method from the original?

I think some of you need a history lesson. In the late 1700's the US goverment helped start an armory to build weapons for the US.

This was called Springfield Armory. They built some the best rifles and pistols the world has ever seen.

They got us through two world wars, Korea and the first part of Viet Nam.

Springfield Armory closed it's doors in 1968. That was it. It is over. They have not produced ANYTHING since 1968.

Springfield Armory INC has NOTHING in common with the origional goverment armory that was known for producing all those great weapons.

A SA Garand is one of the finest battle rifles ever made.

A SA INC Garand is a piece of **** that no one that knows Garands would even think about buying.

The XD is a fine pistol and it lacks all the problems of other SA INC products because they are not made by SA INC.

What makes you so sure a USGI is better than a Springfield Armory Garand? Springfield has been building the goddamn things forever. Plus Springfield is the oldest armory in America, I believe they know a few things about guns. Maybe even a little more than a USGI fan.

The reciever is a poorly made cast part that is sometimes not in spec. The GI parts come from used parts kits SA INC bought from the Danish goverment a few years ago. There rifles were demilled because they were worn out.

SA refinishes these parts over rust pitting and puts them on their so called "new" rifles.

A lot of these parts are completly worn out and the rifles will not function.

Plus they sell for about $1,200.

It is a complete RIP OFF designed to take the money of people that don't know any better.

Springfield Armory makes $1200 Garands that will not function? I would be interested in how many SA Garands placed at Camp Perry over the last few years. Beside all that you are just spewing crap, if the guns sucked no one would buy them and everyone would know about the problems. I may not be a history major but I am pretty sure you are not one either. Who pissed you off at Springfield?

Like I said before, who pissed you off at Springfield? The guns are not junk and that's a fact. They sell well, they perform well and you talk ****. Besides all the stupid **** from the Springfield hater isn't this thread supposed to be about XD's?
