I've been sick with a flu a few weeks ago and have been out of it for a while. I bought a box of Geco 9mm ammo from Dick's yesterday ($4.97 for 50 rounds) and thought I would give it a try. I took some different brands of ammo and my camera.
I shot from a table at 10 yards from a rest and got some tight 10 round groups from the German made Geco 124gr. ball ammo. Sellier & Bellot 115gr. ball ammo was nice too.
Then it was 10 rounds from the infamous Wolf ammo. My first few shots were way left and the following shots were scattered. Dang, maybe the guys were right about Wolf ammo? but I've never seen it this bad before. I put up another target and did some test shooting with more Wolf from the same box.
I'm not the greatest shot, but from about 8 yards my groups were way off line. Then I figured it out. The rear sight had come loose and was sliding left and right with each shot. I could see the sight was very loose and I could push it off the dovetail in either direction.

Well, that was it for the XD this time around. If I had some loctite with me, I could have kept shooting, but the way it was I didn't want the rear sight getting lost in the dirt.
Here is a close up of the ports. The front sight gets gray after just 30 rounds. That was the end of the pistol shooting, but I did have my politically correct MAK-90 and my old Mossberg .22 rifle to fall back on. :mrgreen:and for lunch, cold pizza

Weather is really nice and just a few breezes. Gotta get some more Geco (not Geico 8) ) and loctite my rear sight.

Nice pics/write up. What's the weather like out there in Nevada right now? I really like the desert, so I was excited when I saw the subject title.

It's like 65 to 70 in the daytime and around low 50s at night. Lot of rain this year, but we needed it.
I'll send you a slice of pizza in the mail.

I hope you were able to wash your hands before eating that pizza; you might have ingested more metal than you intended! :)

I bought a small jar of Vegemite once. Tasted like salty road tar :x I got the idea from the Men at work song. "He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich" Never again

It took some effort to take the pics, download them to my computer, resize them (for HokieMS  ), host them and post em. Plus add text. Guys, like [TASF]Overkill should be commended for his efforts.

Hey Hobocircus, do you know when we get our refunds? Do we get one per vehicle?

Yep, I am in southern Nevada. Ask me in a few months how I like the weather? 118 in the day and a cool 94 at night! :x (it's a "dry heat" though  )

Hmm, I may have to try some of that Geico, er Geco. I'll steer clear of the Wolf now, since it loosens up rear sights.
It was kind of odd that the rear sight got loose shooting wolf, but then again it was Geco, S&B then Wolf, so it could have been the other brands that started the process. Anyways for your guys having trouble changing out a stubborn rear sight, try my recipe of 10 rounds of Geco, 10 of Sellier and Bellot and a few shots of Wolf. Might work for you too?

Below is a copy of what the Governor said:

Through my plan for a DMV registration rebate, the registration and fees that you paid in 2004, up to $300 per registration for each car, boat, RV, motorcycle, or trailer you registered, will be sent to you as soon as my budget has been approved by the Legislature. The rebates on two million vehicles will be a welcome addition to peoples’ pocketbooks, and will serve as a continued stimulus to our booming economy. I have faith that the families of Nevada know best how to spend this $300 million.

I think on the news, it was sometime before summer, like May or June.
