XD-M model discontinued???

10212 Views 24 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  Groo
I was on another forum and a poster wanted a full-size 10mm that was optics ready. Someone suggested the XD-M. Then another poster said that SA discontinued the entire XD-M line, except for a handful of Elite models.

What??

I went to the website and it appears to be true.

Surprised that there is no discussion here about this.

Yeah it happened a while ago, you’d have to go back in the posts a ways to find it. I don’t know if there was ever an explanation given but I’m guessing that the XD-S sold so well that they decided to go kill off the lower selling XDM line.

Another explanation in that thread was a possible Shot Show release of an XDM-10 Elite line. We shall see...

I must be missing something…entirely possible.

SA website still shows XDM in their lineup.

I just looked using my phone and using their "gun finder" all I see is "elite" models.

Typing XDm into the search gets no guns only holsters and mag's, typing XDm 9mm shows a few "elite" models only.
Looks like the XDM line has officially been discontinued and replaced with the Elite line to me.

So, HS Produkt developed, makes, and sells the XD (XD Mod. 2), XDM, XDs, and Hellcat in Europe, which are imported by Springfield and distributed for sale in the USA. It looks like to me that they are transitioning to the XDM Elite line. I wonder if they will offer the 10mm and .45 ACP in anything other than the 3.8" barrel considering the overwhelming popularity of the 9mm Luger over other pistol rounds on both sides of the Atlantic.

I'm going to venture a guess that they are only offering the original XD (in HS2000 styling) since it is probably the only factory XD available in California due to the state's approved handgun list, but this of course is pure speculation on my part.

I’d bet a dollar to a dime that SA will come out with the full-size 10mm and .45 ACP Elites , as well as OSP versions, in short time.

As for your guess about the original XD lines, I’d say you’re onto something.

Yes it appears to be completely gone from the website.

I would like a XDM10 Elite 5.25, higher capacity magazine, OSP to replace my regular XDM10's 4.5 and 5.25 that my sticky fingered wife has glommed onto. I do plan on buying a 3.8 compact XDM10 OSP Elite
Not gonna lie I’m in love with mine, I found two online and I was able to get one❤

The XDM in 9 mm was my second purchase of a semi-auto pistol. That XDM led me from being primarily a revolver shooter, to the realm of the semi-auto. I am indeed sorry to see it go. :( Don't get me wrong, I think the Elite series are probably an exceptional line of pistols, but being an "old timer" makes one somewhat nostalgic.

I inherited this XDM 3.8 in 9mm. I really like it and carry it a lot. With 20 rounds it gets a little heavy, over 2 pounds.

I was thinking about the 3.8 compact. From what I see they only come as the Elite Compact with 14 +1 capacity. For 5 to 6 hundred dollars is the weight and size difference worth it? Anyone have both? Is it a noticeable difference?

I always thought the XDM series were beautiful to look at. I thought the Glocks were and are ugly. The XDMs, IMHO, were much more pleasing to the eye.

I recently got a Springfield Armory XDm Elite 10mm, 3.8" compact OSP.

The first thing did was removing that crappy flanged magwell.
I got 16 rd (not the 15rd) mags and added sleeves and a lil electrical tape.
I got Tritium suppressor heights sights on order.
Later on, I may add Holosum gr dot circle/dot sight.

I have the compact 3.8" 10mm not full size.
I used a 16rd mag and a sleeve and since the sleeve does not cover all the larger chrome mag, I used black electrical tape.
They do sell a 15+1 mag with sleeve which there is no gap.

This way I have the 10mm mag with 16+1
Maybe in the future I can figure out to make it look factory made?
