XD-M Elite 9mm + suppressor = it won't eject?

337 Views 13 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  juniory2k12
So I got a "can" for my XD-M Elite 9mm, well actually ordered can then XD ;) (90 day ATF "approval" = 5 months /-: anyway) finally got the can today, XD won't eject? I know on my AR's, RDB and RFB I have to turn the gas down, they're gas operated, but the XD is blowback?? The can is on the barrel that has to tip up a bit, why would that affect the slide?

Thoughts?

Thx

Good morning,
Has anyone helped you out yet through DM?
You’ve got a booster on it, right?

A booster? Nope, whatever it is?

Nope, I can't be the only one w a can on an XD?

You might want to look into what a booster is, and get one. Unless you have a fixed barrel pistol (or a very lightweight can), you need one for reliable operation.

Shot a lot of different stuff, never heard of a booster, or can figure out how it works, guess I have to spend another hundred bucks on one /-; THANKS!

It increases the impulse of the barrel moving backwards to overcome the added weight of the can.

Pretty much a necessity on any tilt-barrel pistol. My buddy’s TiRant in the short configuration will usually work without one, but if you put the extra baffles on, it needs the booster.

Also known as a Nielssen (sp?) device.
1) Booster
2) Change ammunition from 115 to 124 to 147 or 150 if you can find it.
3) recoil spring

There are a lot of people with opinions and sometimes it seems like everyone is different. It’s true but if I was troubleshooting your situation, that is the order in which I would attack it. It doesn’t make it right, just my opinion. Best of luck. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you all! Booster first!
Call me crazy (most do) but I personally would try ammo first, spring second and then the booster but that’s just me.
Oooops, forgot about the one piece spring asm.

New at Cans on XD's, it appears I need the Booster Assembly and a piston as well?
THX!

What does the suppressor manufacturer recommend?

I thought the AAC Ti-Rant models had the piston booster built-in, or at least I hope it does. I have a Ti-Rant 45M sitting on a shelf at the gun store waiting on my form to be approved. Was really hoping I could put that on all my threaded pistols 45 and below, being able to run without issues.

Both my 1911s and both my XD-M Elites have threaded barrels, I know I have to get the conversion piston for 9mm but I guess we will see what happens. Well shoot, now I'm wondering if they even make a piston for 10mm threads?!?

SIGH
