I've got about 200 rounds thru my XD-9 SD, so far.
The squared off top of the barrel; where it goes under the slide, is already showing wear and bright steel. ISTM that the bluing should NOT wear that quickly.

Anyone else have this occur? Should I be concerned about this?
Should I contact SA? I really do not want to send them the barrel and be without for a month or two.......

If it is bright, it may be rubbing a bit more than it should, but it could also be the super-keen-cool-O-rific finish that SA uses or a slightly oversized lock-up area. If it starts to scratch, gouge, or in other ways get worse you may want to have someone look at it. I've shot about 2000 rounds through mine and can barely see steel. Is the slide wearing quickly as well?

It is bright as in the bluing is wearing away and i am seeing unblued steel. The slide seems fine, so far....

Perfectly normal. Be certain to put a drop or two of your favorite oil on top of the barrel, to make the surface a little slick for the slide while it cycles, as well as to inhibit the growth of rust.

get a power sander with 1000 grit sand paper to remove all the scratches and blueing, then polish with jewlers and white rouge to a mirror finish.

Thanks, will give it a try.
BTW, I just turned the little sander upside down, and ran the barrel on it, applying pressure. Easiest way to sand away
