Hey xd community just ran across this site called The Best nines, where they rank 25 9mm and the xd comes at 6th place right behind the Taurus pt92, but did beat Glock which was at 10th place. Just want to strike up a conversation here and see what people's thoughts are on this ranking.

Here's the site: The Best Nines - Best 9mm Pistol Site handgun review test gun dealer auction

24. Hi-Point C9 Comp: Haggle Price $140-$170

A highpoint in the top 25?

Sorry. This site has 0 credability in my book.

You said it, brother! I teach CCW classes on a regular basis and I have never had a Hi-Point on the line that didn't malfunction. If they had a Top 25 list for paperweights I would highly recommend it.

I have to disagree with #4 (Beretta 92FS/M-9) and #5 (Taurus 92). They are basically the same gun and the M-9, while dependable at the range, has had many issues in the field in Iraq. Not to mention the fact that if you have smaller hands the M-9 has an uncomfortably large grip and the controls are hard to reach.

I believe the M-9 belongs on the list, just not at #4 with a clone at #5.

more proof that you don't have to know crap about guns to write about them, on the internet or in most gun magazines ... most of those guns wouldn't be on any list I would put together except maybe of things to avoid buying ... the XD is the best gun on the list, at least they got that part right

I agree but if you look you'll see there's like 6 CZ75 clones.

As long as we're ripping on Hi point...my buddy has a .380 and a .40 Hi point. Every time we've been out and shot them they've crapped out. Some kind of failure every time, I've even seen it crap out multiple times in the same mag. I've heard so many of these stories. So yeah I'm wondering how in the he** it made the list!!!

saw a hipoint compact used (looked brand new) at the lgs for $90. i lol'd. considered buying it, but realized they dont have any "turn in your guns and here's a $250 gift card" promos around here

I also have a friend that has a C9 Comp. His percentage of hitting just the paper has to be below 10%. If he trades it in he will probably get $40.00 for it. I tried to warn him before hand, but he was more interested in saving more vs. quality.

The C9 "is a good tackle box or truck gun". Yah, it adds weight to the tackle box so you can throw the box at your attacker. In the truck you can wave it around as a diversion while you run them over.

I disregard any site with banner adds for "Cheap Viagra".

I know it's fun and easy to pick on Hi point, but are all these negative opinions from actual experience, or are we just repeating what we've heard? My experience with the Hi point C9 has been great. I shoot it more accurately than my XD9. Sure it might be ugly, and heavy, but its been reliable, and accurate...what more could I really ask of a $100 gun?

All things considered I think it has a place on a list of under $500 guns.

Of course that's just my personal opinion;)

I am pretty sure you are either trolling, or you had one of the only positive experiences with a Hi Point firearm. It does have a place on a list of under $500 guns - the one listing guns that a self respecting gun-owner would never purchase.

I agree.

Plus he said that Taurus has made improvements on the 92FS and doesn't explain why Taurus didn't get the #4 spot over the Beretta.

Umm in my opinion the author is just another internet tool or aka mall ninja. I have issue with what guns are on their but the order is simply crazy. If you read any of his comments and why he listed them in the order he did you will see he has no clue. To list the FNP-9 as good because it is only accurate to 15 yards and because it comes with 3 mags, give me a break!

Oh and also he has some cheap ass crap on there but does not even have an HK USP, P2000, P7, P30 listed. What a joke!

If you had to do a top 5 list:

HK P7
Sig 229
Glock 17/19//26
Springfield XD/XDm
Beretta 92

These are not in any specific order but guns that I would say you have to rate as some of the best based on shooting ability, reliabilty, quality of fit and finish and total of units sold in the world.

In my opinion the HK P7 is probably the most amazing 9mm ever built and most likely the most accurate one as well. But it didn't even make his list. Guess why, he has never owned one!
