I’m guessing this is the case with all of them. Certainly is with mine. It’s a little easier after 1000 plus rounds but still tighter than all my other pistols. The mags all load easy enough but you gotta bump em pretty good to lock them into the gun and the release is hard to push.

It's not a design flaw. And it's not unusual or limited to XDs for the last round in a high capacity magazine to put a lot of pressure on the extractor and the mag release. People report the same problem with Shields and other pistols. If it is problematic for you, simply load the magazine with 12 instead of 13 and the problem disappears. You're still carrying 13 so I wouldn't sweat it.

99% of the magazines that I use which people report having issues getting fully loaded I do NOT have an issue with. Yeah the last round is a little tough, but it goes in. Uplula makes a mag loader that people really seem to like.

It's not loading the bullets in the magazine that's the problem it's the insertion and ejection of the magazine. For it to operate correctly I have to take out 2 or 3 from the magazine. I have one mag thats a 9 round capacity that's what I would carry (it sits flush) not the 13 extended mag (printing issues) so a 9 round mag becomes a 6 or 7. If Springfield designs a firearm to have 9 or 13 then it should work with that amount. Even an empty mag with the slide forward is harder than it should be to eject compared to other firearms.

I mentioned loading the magazine because someone brought it up in this thread and I didn't want to get into responding with multiple quotes.

As to your problem, like I said, people report the same issue with M&P Shields, which are 7 round mags. Personally ( and I just checked) with my XD Mod 2 4" .45, which has 13 rd. mags, it is tight getting it to lock in only when there are 13 rds. in the mag. If I reduce it to 12, it goes in no problem and the mag release button gets a lot easier. One finger easier. If you're having to download by 3 rds. I don't really have any usable advice for you because that has never been the case with mine.

I have mag extensions on my shield 7 rd mags (3 of them) carry it every day with 9 rds 8+1 and the spare of 8.
No issues what so ever with ability to load all 8 with or without UpLuLa.

Ot any type of malfunctions with feed and or extraction and have fired several hundred rounds with the extensions.

No issue with slide lock or release as I do not use the slide lock as a release as it is NOT intended as such. I use the push method and slingshot it forward.

Locks open with full empty or no mag as it should in each configuration every time.

I exclusively use extra capacity mags in both my Shields too. Same as you, no issues whatsoever. People do report those problems with them though. Personally I think there is a plethora of people out there with girly thumbs. :)
