Does anyone know for certain if Wolf 308 ammunition is loaded as 308 spec or Mil 7.62x51 spec? I've heard that it's problematic to fire mil-spec ammo in a commercial rifle, but ok to fire commercial spec ammo in a mil-spec firearm. Does anyone have some insight for this concern, and a good reference for complications in bolt action rifles caused by polymer coated steel cases?

.308 and 7.62x51 are virtually identical, even from a pressure sense. FWIW the Wolf ammo is a mild load. I've shot some .308s that kicked much harder.

ok so this is the way I understand it.

5.56is hotter then 223 so you shouldnt fire 5.56 is a 223 only rifle.

.308 winchester is hotter then the 7.62x51 but there isnt the danger that the 223vs5.56 does. compare the ballistics of military load to some commercial 308 loads to see for yourself.
If I understand what I've read, the problem is with head space, with the military bullet being longer.
