Hello, all i can tell you is because i could not find one for my xd40 anywhere local. I installed one for the glock models 19,17.ect. the full size ones.I was thinking it would cover more of the grip and after "trying" to slide it on, I figured it would not move or slip. I used a little dishwashing liquid on my finger with a little water to (lube) the grip. It took a little to get it on there! But when it was on it was on.I used a razor blade to cut a notch around the grip saftey, and I love it. P.S. I cant figure out how to put a picture on here or I would so you could it

A little hair spray on the interior surface of the grip will help glide it on. An old trick.

I used the #3 and I ordered it from James from www.xd-hs2000.com

I would get the number and order it over the phone. I used hairspray to install it. It feels ridiculously good in my hands, and doesn't move around. It will need to be trimmed, but it wasn't a big deal.

Thanks. I see that Pachmayr makes a #1 too without the finger grooves. Hmm.

Paxhmyr #1 (no finger grooves) will work by fitting it upside down - you will have to trim some off the bottom. For those who don't like finger grooves.
