Which new 1911 to buy under $500?

I am only going to be able to buy ONE handgun in the near future. I want a 1911 clone..I want the best possible one for the money. best finish etc. So now the question. i have seen the rock island armory, the american classic, American tactical imports 1911a1 and online have seen the firestorm, the high standard and I think a few others too. My question is.....which one is the best? I like the idea of the ATI 1911a1 having a lanyard loop at the base of the frame, the nice checkered grips, price, finish and the really sweet wide thumb spur on the hammer. Sights are not an issue for me. Yes the dots would be really nice. as for the skelotonized trigger, and hammer....uh...not really an issue for me. RIA has a pretty rough parkerised finish and really cheap looking wooden grips, so I would replace them. Firestorm and american classic look nice but again....which one? Firestorm is excellent I understand too.I feel like buying a used Colt ser 80 for another 100 bucks, $550 locally, but again, why pay the extra money if I dont have to? any info would be helpful...thanks steve in missouri.

Just wondering what this has to do with the XD-45 pistol?

There's a separate section for 1911 posts.
Well, take a look at this:

+1 on both accounts.

I haven't studied up enough to say anything good or bad about the ATIs, but I know a lot of people love the RIAs. I'm not familiar with the American Classic or Firestorm's model.

I'll add don't forget to check out used 1911s. You can find good deals in your price range for used 1911s. I bought a SA mil-spec 1911 (stainless) for right around your price range a few years back.
