WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I just got my XD9 4' and am really excited. So which is the better holster for my gun? I have heard people say that they like the leather but for IDPA and other wear does it make a difference? I know the smell of leather is great but what are the pros and cons of leather wear for competition and what about prices etc... :?:

You can get Don Hume or some other leather holsters around the $40 range, and Kydex will run you $20+. Of course you can also put a lot more into either. Leather should wear the finish a lot less than kydex. Leather retains moisture though, but I think some folks around here have suggested spraying silicon into the leather holster to keep that down a bit (someone else should be able to confirm that). As to the kydex, I like it because its easy to clean and cheap. But I use a leather holster (Don Hume open top) for normal carry.

Leather has a mre classy and sexy look. I like Kydex because it is very fast, secure and make it easy to do a one handed re-holster.

I have leather from Galco, DiSantis, Tucker. I have Kyddex from Blade-tech. Hoffners, and Galco (Galco is not really Kydes, but similar). The are all nice, but for IWB carry I prefer the Kydex. One of my leathers holsters after the rainy huricanes is a little warped and soft ( it's IWB and very hard to re-holster.

I like my Blade-Tech UHC the best. Am considering a Fist Inc. Thin Kydex holster for my 1911. Fist Now offers a Hybride series, Kydex with leather on the outside.

I sudgest Kydex for IWB for OWB leather should be fine and have a nice look.
