I got the bi-tone because I heard rumors of finish problems. My guess is that the XD appeals mainly to people who like Glocks, but not everything about Glocks. I further speculate that these people have gotten used to tenifer on Glocks and are not as cautious with the finish as people used to blued guns. Sheer speculation on my part. As Click and Clack say, "unencumbered by the thought process".

I voted bi-tone but would prefer a custom job. Black chrome slide and hard chrome barrel.

I prefer black, and have even been thinking of getting my stainless gun done in black.

My preference based solely on color would be all black. However, I bought a bi-tone XD-9 Service specifically to get the SST slide and avoid any worries about corrosion. As an added advantage, I find it easier to pick up the sights with the color contrast.

That would be perfect cosmetically. I've had custom work done in the past, and don't think I could give a gun up for the time it takes any more. I had a custom 1911 build and it took about a year, and I later sold it. Where's the "Emoticon" for kicking yourself?

I like a matte black finish so there is absolutely no reflection that would give me away.

Actually, I saw OD and thought "Hey, I like my OD"...then I got to thinking, and realized you were talking about slide finish

I'd have to go with black, preferably a flat finish as opposed to glossy.
