Dont knock it before you try it, big bore power in in the normal xd package. I can use all my old holster and mags with the xdgap so I have no equipment change. The ammo averages 13 bucks a 50 but when reloading the cost goes down alot and is actually affordable to shoot. The recoil is snappy but is not that bad, if you can handle a 357sig or 40 you can hadle the gap. For those of you in the 10 round max states you dont loose much with the xd gap one round vs the glock gaps and you still have more than a 1911.
Heres my xd Gap now I need a 4inch for concealed carry.

Oh yea I have used this for the last two weeks for USPSA matches and it has yet to fail me, I have been through 1000 rounds now 400 lawman 200 gr, and 600 of my reloads....230lrn with 4.5grs of win231 not one fail to anything even though I used mags designed for the 9mm,357 and 40.
Although I have nothing against the the new GAP model, I am purchasing a Glock 21 instead. I can't see personally adding a new cartridge to my inventory.

It seemed like the a few 45 GAPs popped up and then, no one said anything about them for a while. Its good to hear a report from apjames51 on his.

I have shot my dad's G37 several times now, and it was a good shooter. But, I have to say that the XD-45 has it beat in the looks and practicality department. It think the 37 is larger overall than the XD 4" model, and the slide on the 37 is, of course, thicker than a normal Glock. Nice gun, though.

I haven't shot the XD-45, yet. Good to hear about it. I like the big hole in boom boom end. What we need is a pic of the 9 or .357, .40, and .45 showing the business ends side-by-side. Anybody?

Ask and ye shall receive... no 9mm though, just my .40 bitone. Sorry about the blurry pics, POS digital camera, since I spent all my money on weaponry.

I don't have one in th Xd model yet, but I bought my Glock 37 as soon as I could and I love the GAP round. I like it so much I have the new sub compact model on order, and then I will try to pick up the Xd version.
I still consider the .40 S&W as the "new kid on the block" and have no real interest in it. The .45 GAP is even farther down the list. I wouldn't mind shooting a mag full for laughs, but I really don't want one. :|

Aren't you disadvantaged at all with a 9rnd magazine?
Im just gonna hush on this one.

with the 45gap I am shooting limited 10 so I only loose one round say compared to the glocks but gain against some of the the 1911`s with say 8 round mags. And then I can add extended base plates to gain the extra round. I used to shoot 9mm so at least I am getting better points now those charlies suck with a 9mm.

Oh Ill buy 45gap brass from who ever dont reload just send me a PM.
I started shooting a PA 63 in 9x18, then a Star BM 9mm. Now I've put 100 rounds thru my 45 GAP XD. I think I like it! Sunday I'm going to the range with the whole family( wife too!) to see where this thing will shoot with different ammo.
Ajames, you should take a road trip over here to Atlanta and shoot with us sometime! USPSA matches somewhere near Atlanta most every weekend. :)

Let me know a schedual, I am trying to shoot every weekend I can.

A few things on my list of "Stuff I want to get"

1) a 357 sig barrel for my XD40

2) XD 45 tactical

3) MP5 or maybe a clone BW5

Amen, brother!

I shot my b-in-law's 357 sig G32 this weekend. BOOM BOOM BOOM  It made me flinch a few times when he shot while I was in the lane next door. Nothing like the 44 mag Smith 29, though. That always gets some attention!

MP5s are beautiful in a "man that's a purty craftsman wrench" kind of way.

The 45 is looking good from guys are saying. Shops need to get with the program and stock the ammo.
Gander Mountain was moving to a new location and sold all ammo for 40 % off. Got 10 boxes for under 9 bucks :D :D :D
