The GAP round will fit in the 9 and .40 frame?

45 GAP - 4 inch & 5 inch Models

How do you give the XD big-bore stopping power without enlarging its trim, ergonomic frame? Simple you just make the cartridge shorter so it fits in the existing XD platform.

Introducing the new XD chambered in 45 GAP. This new cartridge gives you the same performance of the mighty 45 ACP, but the shorter overall cartridge length of the GAP round means it fits in the exact same XD frame as our 9mm and 40 S&W versions.

Didn't you just answer your own question? :?
They didn't have to change the grip. The frame is the same (Or very similar) to the XD40 and XD9.
The .45 GAP OAL is short enough to fit in the same frame. That's all.
In other words, an XD for a .45 ACP would have required a new frame probably with a longer trigger reach. Not so with the .45 GAP.
I bet the slide's alot heavier.

Really?

I bet it's close to the same weight.
I am guessing it's a little lighter since there is less metal to accomodate for the bigger round. ;)
Yeah thats probably right. Id guess about the same weight though. So basically all youd need to do is change out the barrel and maybe the spring for a future conversion? Unless the barrel is bigger.

I imagine the barrel will have to be at least a little bigger, to accomidate the larger diameter bullet.

Because the 45 GAP casing is shorter in length than a 45 ACP, guns designed around the 9mm and 40SW needn't be modified to fire the cartridge.

Comparison: The .45 GAP (top) side-by-side with the S&W .40 Glock 22
along with .40 S&W, .45 GAP, and .45 ACP cartridges.

"The case length of the .45 G.A.P. is 0.76" as opposed to 0.89" for the .45 ACP. In metrics, this translates to 19mm vs. 22mm. By contrast, the .40 auto case measures 0.85", or 21.5mm in length. With its 200-grain JHP bullet, the overall length (OAL) of the.45 G.A.P. cartridge is 1.08", slightly shorter than either the 9mm or the .40 auto in most of its loadings. "

The 45 GAP XD is even mentioned in the lower portion of the article with positive remarks from the author.

Is a regular .45 ACP able to fire a .45 GAP with just a magazine modification? Im guessing no but maybe its possible?
No overall case lenght is different the ACP is longer also I believe pressures are higher for GAP.
Whats up with that funky rail?

I'm sorry but wanting to shoot .45GAP from a pistol already chambered for .45ACP sounds kind of silly to me. Just wondering...
