I'm interested in knowing the caliber of shooters we have on the board.

1. What guns do you shoot?
2. IDPA or USPA?
3. Classified as ???

4. Do you prefer IDPA to USPA, or vice versa?
5. Do you shoot 3-gun or Multi-gun, NRA bullseye, silhouette (sp), ICORE?

I shoot CDP in IDPA (Sharpshooter, and moving up), Limited 10 in USPSA (Currently waiting for classification status)

I shoot a 646 revolver in IDPA as well (40 S&W) moonclip gun, love it.

Just got my 625 5" for USPSA in revolver division. Waiting for a 627 8 shot 38 super to use in Production and Open class.

I prefer to shoot USPSA over IDPA. I hate many of the limitations that IDPA imposes on shooting, less thinking, more follow my directions or else.

3 gun i shoot a Mossberg 500 with a pistol grip stock and other goodies, My springfield Limited 10 gun, and a Bushy XM-15 E2s flat-top 16" H-bar with Aimpoint ML2 scope..... I use my 5" tactical 40 as well for this as well as production in USPSA and ESP in IDPA.

Will be in Vegas soon the second week of Oct. at Frontsight. I'll check out the Sincity shooters while I'm there. 8)

1. One of two 1911s, or an XD9.
2. IDPA.
3. CDP-MM, ESP-MM, I have managed to screw up in classifiers regularly.
4. IDPA, I'm just not USPSA oriented.
5. 3-gun also, using a Mossberg 590 and a DPMS A-15, and sometimes an M1 Garand.

We shoot pretty much every Sunday, this weekend will be a pistol match. Usually we set up 5-6 stages with the house getting used almost every weekend. There is a man on man steel match every Tuesday night sarting about sevenish come check it out if you wish. Let me know if you are going to shoot it and I will make sure I make it that day or night. Good luck and stay safe.

I shoot the following guns - - - SSP S&W 3913 or Taurus PT 100 ESP Springfield XD9 or PT 100, CDP a 1911 I built, SSR S&W 686.

In the past I shot in NRA High Power rifle and NRA Bullseye pistol but I haven't participated in any of that in years.

I shoot only IDPA, 4-gun Expert. I shoot 1911s (in .45 ACP), Glocks (mainly G21), XDs (mainly XD-40 Tactical), and a Model 19 S&W revolver (in which I shoot .357 loads).

When we have side matches or "unofficial" 3-gun matches, I shoot a Remington 870 and either a Bushy A-3 carbine or, usually, an M1A (occasionally even an old M1 Garand). I'm usually pretty outclassed by the highly accessorized AR15s and the auto shotguns, but that's ok, I'm having fun. I don't have the time to put into the practice with the long guns that I do the handguns, so I'm not as proficient with them.

1. Used to shoot Glocks, have switched to XD-9. Also Ruger GP-100 for SSR and Kimber for CDP.
2. Both
3. SSP-E, ESP-E. Haven't classified in CDP or SSR yet.
4. I prefer IDPA over USPSA, but I have to admit I like the increased round count of USPSA. I shoot USPSA as I would shoot IDPA (tac-reloads, using cover, etc.).
5. For 3-Gun, I use an M1A SOCOM and a Remmie 870 Marine Magnum with ghost rings. I tried using a Benelli 121-M1, but found that I was faster with the pump and didn't have to worry about jams.

How does the SOCOM work for the 3 guns? Do you find it too heavy on longer stages? I heard recoil is easy on the SOCOM due to the nice muzzle brake.
I actually used it for the first time at a 3-Gun two weeks ago. I put about 20 rounds through it the night before, trying to get a little familiar with it. Well, I gotta tell you that I was real nervous using it against all of them fancy AR's with all the fancy gadgets and whatnot. There was one other who was shooting major besides me. He was using a Garand.

You are right about the muzzle brake. I found it extremely effective. If I had one "nit" about it, it is that the front Ashley sight tends to be fairly wide. Although I found that if I concentrated on the thinner, white insert, it helped a bit.

We had a few stages that were fairly target rich. Up to 18 targets, two rounds per. I found I had no problem hefting it for that long. I really like the balance of it. I also found that I was not able to talk the RO out of not counting my hit on hard cover on one target. I was, after all, shooting a .308.... but they wouldn't buy it.

In the end, we had 23 shooters. I placed second in the rifle portion. You can imagine my surprise. I am by no means an accomplished rifle shooter, but this SOCOM handles so nicely and is just as accurate out to about 300 yards as a standard M1A, that I see absolutely no reason not to use one. I think that says something for this little black rifle.

LeMat,

I use a pump gun for my 3 guns, I'm just as fast as the guys with Autos, Benellis, etc. pumps just seem to malfunction less and are less finicky with shells.

Nice work with the SOCOM. I use an AR platform, but really like .308s. I've used a 16" FAL before with good results, just not as fast on the second shot on target as the .223. The SOCOM seems like a good choice, in USPSA .223 has a hard time making power factor in some guns.... .308, you can't but make power factor with ease...

Are the mag changes easy with the SOCOM vs. the AR???

I hear ya about the pump guns. I got a little "gamey" and thought I could do it faster with an auto... I was wrong. My last "man-on-man" sold me on my pump.

Mag changes are definitely easier with an AR. I used to use a Bushy M-4'gery and I still can't change mags as quick with the SOCOM as I could with that. I'm convinced that with more practice, I will be able to disprove that.
