I have now sent in my 9mm 3" XD twice for failure to extract problems. I got it back this week, and today I went to the range and w/in 60 rounds it failed to extract again. I'm done w/this gun. I purchased it to carry daily and have outfitted it w/a Milt Sparks setup and aftermarket Heiny sights. Will springfiels replace this lemon w/a new gun? I have already got a trade in price to replace it w/something that will be reliable (Glock/Kahr)

:D I have read some poor reviews of Kahr reliability.

All you can do is ask of Springfield. From what I have read here the FTE is usually retricted to the 9mm and then most often with Winchester bulk ammo. Your failure does not sound all that common, but sending it in twice with poor results would upset even my calm demeanor. 8)

Bottom line is if you don't trust it don't carry it. Get another one or something else and don't waste any more energy on it. First talk to Springfield and be firm but not an ass. Then go from there.

yeah dont be an ass.

Also try different ammo before you give up on it. Order some Speer JHP from ammoman, and see if something with a little more kick solves the problem

The first time I sent it in it failed to extract with the first shot w/my carry ammo that I had been carrying for about three weeks. To that point it failed to extract about 20 times w/varying types of ammo. Not good if I ever would have needed it. Once I got it back after three weeks and a barrel reaming it failed three times through 120 rounds. It immediately went back. After just getting it back in another three weeks with an extractor replacement it failed after 60 rounds. Need I say more?

Limpwristing will cause FTEs have you let somebody else shoot your gun and he or she has FTEs.

Key words here are (as Nexd said), "have you tried different ammo"? If you haven't then I would suggest selling your gun and finding a new hobby.

I have had problems w/about 5 different manufactures (S&B, Winchester, UMC, Remington, and American Ammuntion) of quality brass ammo FMJ and Hollowpoint. The rounds are pulling about 1/2 way out ot the chamber, causing the worst case senario in malfunction clearing. I don't limpwrist...60/40% push/pull; I have had multiple professional classes...and I am a competent shooter. Today at the range there was a group of competitive shooters, three of which have had problems w/failures to extract with their XD's. They saw my gun malfunction and came over immediately to see what was the problem. I spoke with one of them who was shooting a 5" XD and he told me of his groups problems. He said he loves to shoot them in competition, but carries a Glock 26 for CCW because of reliability issues. I'm not trying to start a spitting match but I have lost all confidence in this gun. I bought it because it shoots well, points great and safety features. I then spent about $350 in accessories. Now I have a gun that will malfunction about every 50 rounds or so. I would love for Springfield to fix it, but how many trips back to the factory is needed? In the last 2 months I have had it for about 10 days when it wasn't either in transit or at Springfield. Even when I had it I couldn't carry it for what it was purchased for because it is still unreliable.

I shoot a .40 shot maybe 1600 rounds and have never had a FTE. My son just bought a XD 9mm has shot about 3 or 4 hundred rounds with out a problem. I believe 60/40 refers to the grip 60% with weak hand and 40% with strong hand not push/pull.

You may have a bad weapon (no duh). I have an XD 9mm subcompact and have shot about 500 rounds thru it with absolutely no problems other than one of the sights had to be replaced as it shot 6" low. That was done with a 7 day turn around at SA's expense.

Love the gun and use it as my ccw now that I've retired from 27yrs of le. Wasn't allowed SA when I was working. Good luck.
