I recorded this data on a Pro Chrono, works great, no errs messages. all velocities displayed are averages of minimum 5 shots.
Accuracy was very similiar on all charges for me. Chrono was 8 feet from muzzle.
92 F
all combos use these specs:
CCI Large pistol primers
berrys 230 gr
1/2 turn for light crimp on all rounds Lee post die
-------------------
Bullseye 1.26"
Winchester brass. Hi-lo deviation
5.1g 741.8 fps. 74 fps
5.3g. 753.2 fps. 32 fps
5.6g. 793 fps. 38 fps
starting load was very light recoil.
v-340. 1.26"
Speer/federal brass. deviation
6.0g. 695 fps. 150 fps 1 FTF,
6.2g. 702.75fps. 47 fps
6.4g. 722.6 fps. 34 fps.
Longshot. 1.20"
r-p auto brass. deviation
6.0g. 731 fps. 79 fps
6.3g. 760.2 fps. 39 fps.
6.6g. 795 fps. 28 fps.
One thing I noticed and the numbers will show, is that with these 3 powders and these component combos , as the case was filled with more powder the deviation of hi-lo readings decreased. The higher charges seem to be more consistent for my setup and variables at play.
also, the Longshot produced a distinctly different "boom". almost metallic sounding . Thought it was worth mentioning. Anyone else notice that?
As most people already know, but for those who might not:
YOU SHOULD ALWAYS START CHARGES AT MINIMUM AND WORK UP CAUTIOUSLY, POWDER CAN VARY LOT TO LOT. OTHER VARIABLES PROBABLY EXIST ALSO. ONLY USE PUBLISHED DATA, NOT MINE. Thanks
