I just recently purchased my XD(m) .40c. It was used (barely) and had the TruGlo sights already installed. The problem is they don't glow. Totally dark room, or slightly lit doesn't seem to matter. There is no glow at all. Can these things actually go bad? I'm kinda bummed since these sights were definitely a selling point for this gun.

Your sights don't have tritium in them, so they won't glow..
They are Truglo sights, but they are not Truglo TFO sights.
If you were told you have night sights, you were lied to.
Perhaps you saw the fiber optic tubes and assumed they were TFOs.
Perhaps your seller misrepresented the pistol to you.

What you have are these,

BRITE•SITE™ HANDGUN SERIES
FIBER OPTIC

  • Uses our traditional fiber optic technology.
  • CNC-machined steel construction.
  • Contrasting red front and green rear.
  • Concealed fiber cannot be seen by target.
  • Fits standard holsters.
  • Snag-resistant design.

You need TruGlo TFOs. The fiber optic is the missing ingredient in your setup.

You aren't stupid if you are smart enough to ask questions. That's how we all learn.
