How often, if ever, should I totally disasemble my XD9? I mean totally. Every piece apart from each other.
Thanks!

When ever you think you need to. It wont hurt the xd to be taken appart, unless you bend/break things etc. Usually I do mine at least every thousand. You can do it more or less, or I even know some poeple who do it every rainy day for something to do.

I am at the other extreme. I did mine once while trying to talk a member thru a problem. Other than that never.
Once in a while I flood it with some cleaner and blow it out with an air hose. I will take out the plate holding in the striker spring etc. at the end of the slide and flush out the striker channel, but I leave the striker in place. If you look under your slide there is a hole near the breechface that lets you stick a nozzle for carb cleaner in there and flush the channel out. I then blow it out with air and because I can't let it be dry even though that may be best, I drop oil in there and then blow the oil out with air so there is only a very light film left.

So, when Don strips, he does a lot of oiling and blowing, but never gets completely inside it. Nice Don. Very nice.
