It was her first time. My youngest; a small 16 year old - small hands. First shot my Springfield XD9 Tactical then stepped up to my .45 auto (Para 1911, traditional). Who says girls can't handle the 45? Was able to hit the target with both guns although somewhat better with the 45. Hooked another one - she LOVES IT! So, for her personal gun in a few years, what do y'all think? I'm thinking Springer Mil-Spec due to short fingers or can a XD be made to accomodate the "shorties"?

And the range we went to was the Firing-Line in Huntington Beach. For you folks around that area, it is a great range.

Gunsite Academy recommended the Colt 1911 (full-size) for my 17 year old daughter. Now you two report that these two girls love shooting the 45. Hmmm- Maybe I had better take her to dry-fire a 1911 at Gander Mountain.
