Well comming up soon the XD and HS2000 design will be 5yrs old. This will be 5years of use. Yes I know technically the XD has not been around 5 yrs the over all design has. Plenty of people on this board have gen 1`s that have many several thousands of rounds through them. So does the XD and HS finally get respect? And when you talk about pistols can the xd and hs2000 designs finally get rid of the reputation of unproven. How long did it take Glock to become proven? All of my XD`s and HS2000 have been proven reliable after 5 yrs with a gen 1 hs2000 the only thing I have replaced is the guiderod/recoil assebly with a dons guide rod, and about two weeks ago my grip safety spring had broke an arm. The pistol still functioned and would have during an emergancy its just not kosher to have a safety disabled. So is the XD proven yet..or shall I just ask next year like I did last year and this year.

I'm a critics worst nightmare about everything. The XD is the first semi auto pistol I have owned. After shooting it for most of a year now almost every two weeks and shooting around 400 rounds each time I have to say it has been a much better gun then I thought it could ever be. Other than some FTE (4)(limp wrist) I have not had anything other than a little rust tarnish it's Good VS Evil little heart. Long live the XD! Long live the new King of Pistols!

I have to admit after having 4 service and 1 sub, that the xd ranks as high on my list as some costing double the price.I have been an avid gun trader for the last 10 years, and I cant seem to stay away from the xd line.I would buy one,go shooting with friends and they would buy it from me on the spot.I would take that money and go buy another, same thing would happen lol Ive made a few extra dollars by doing that.Well Ive finally settled on the sub and this one aint gettn traded.Dont know what brought that little speach on but o well,XD=Greatness.

The short answer is No Respect... Other boards trash it regularly, mostly because the the finish issues...

That being said, I am noticing more positive comments appearing, so the tide may be turning...

And the by-product is, prices on XDs are going up, and supply is going down...

If the XD had come out before the Glock then two thirds of the cops in the country would be carrying XDs instead of Glocks.

I don't think it's a matter of not respecting the XD, I think it's just that Glocks and Sigs get more exposure via movies and TV, most cops carry them and just about any 8 year old boy can tell you that a Glock is a firearm.

I've had some diehard Glockers shoot my HS2000 and I've seen that look of "bewilderment " in their eyes.

That's respect.

I've been seeing more and more print articles and even a few covers of the XD, most recently the cover of "shooting times" has an full size pic of a sub XD on the front and full size ad for XD's on the back. :D

My XD gets respect at the range. People of all ages end up at my table asking what I am shooting (of course I get the, "never seen a Glock like that before", and "read about them!") If fact, I even let one person try mine out. Next time I had seen him, he pissed me off. Told me all about buying one for his bro and it came with three mags and a XD Gear holster. Damn i am still burning about that : )
In short its a great piece that has let me meet a couple shooters in this area.

In just the 3 months that I've had mine, I've been watching more and more people switch from Glock to XD's. 2 shooters at our local range competitions have switched over, and I have 2 ex cops who carried Glocks for the last 10 years now seriously considering replacing it w/ the XD. It's a matter of exposure. The more you show it off, the more you'll see them in other people's hands.

In a recent shotgun news, they have the Sub compact reviewed with 2 other "modern" compacts(Keltec-911 and a Kahr Pm9) and classic(WaltherPPK, Beretta Mo. 1935, Colt 1903) and the author said the Moderns beat the classics in everything but possibly looks, and of the moderns, the XD was way ahead of the other 2.

Word is getting out, I found out when my cousin bought a Glock in October, the dealer was trying to push a XD instead. He still got the glock though
