The sub compact accuracy

I have a two tone 9mm standard and a 9mm sub compact.I am more accurate with the sub than the standard.Had some body else shoot them and no differance both very accurate, equal to a CZ75B which we both own and the CZ75B is a very accurate gun.I have tried some other 3" pistols before and no dice with accuracy.Head shots at 20 yards are easy. The only advantage is the standard comes with 15 round mags.Even the recoil with sub is mild with 9mm+P.Very satified.A 20.5oz 3" pistol is not suppose to be accurate.

The sub is as accurate as any other combat type pistol, or better. The pistol almost granted will shoot better than you so you will have to do your part.
works for me....i got the exact same pistol. i'm more accurate with my 1911 5", but i think that's due to trigger more than the barrel length.

XD9 Sub ain`t a target pistol, but it has excpetional combat accuracy.
My sc is also very accurate head shots 15-20 no problem at all! I like it a lot.
I can't hit at 25 yards with my subcompact, but I'm pretty sure that has somethign to do with not being able to see my target... especially not it's head. Damn these old eyes in a young body. But when I can see the target, I have no problems hitting the x-ring and putting a full mag in the head as far as 25 feet, which is as far as I'll need to shoot in a defensive situation anyway.
i took my subby out the other day for the first time and found that i shoot it better than my kimber  go figure...
I can put 25 shots through a single hole at 100 yards with my subcompact.

Ok sorry...I got carried away. Here's a target from 10 yards 1 shot every 2 seconds from a previous range trip.

Same problem at 25 yards - grins

15 yards I can put 10 in a 3 inch circle with my SC

Update: Ya most targets look much like DigMe's above at that distance - good enough for a combat pistol.
Theoretically, the sub-compact would certainly be less accurate out of the box than a regular-sized pistol of the same model. That's what practice at the range is for, to alleviate this difference.
I have several 9's, including a full size, 4" Steyr M9-A1 that I love.

The XD9SC is the one I'm most accurate with.
If what you are saying is true (sub's are as accurate as 5" barrel's) then why don't bench shooters and snipers use 20" barrel's?

I'm not sure I fully understand the point of your comment.

A lot of different factors determine a handgun's accuracy, the most important of which is how it performs in a specific shooter's hand. I can drive tacks with an XD9SC. Another shooter may be all over the target with it. Another big factor is how the gun is designed, machined, and assembled. Unless there's good QC, one (insert your favorite gun here) may be dead on accurate, another may be a Wild Child.
My black Sub 40 has a 5lb trigger with very little slack. Except for the long take up, it's comparable to my other two with Springer trigger jobs. My recently purchased bitone Sub 40 has a 6.5lb trigger with a typical XD trigger feel, a whole lot of take up, a fair amount of creep and then the break. Up until I got my two trigger jobs, my black Sub 40 was the easiest to shoot accurately. My since sold Sub 9 was very smooth after 4000 rounds, but still not as easy to shoot as the Sub 40. Sometime if I get sloppy, I inadvertently shoot a double because of the snappy recoil, and darned if the shots aren't one above the other separated by a quarter inch.
The Sub is a wonderful weapon.
With all else being equal, longer barrels "should be" more accurate.

You're absolutely right at distances farther than 15 yards. Well, at least for us common folk. But at combat distance, IMHO, mine are all about the same.
The 617 allows me to put all ten shot in a five inch circle at 25 yards. Not bad for a poor sighted old man, but that's a different standard all together.
Looks like another old post dug up from the past. (04)
7 year old thread resurrected.
^same guy too. :(
lol. yeah, what he meant was that you don't need a snipper, you can do as good using an XDsc with iron sights:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
What are you going to snip?

Boy, if it were not for this guy, I probably would never see these threads.
