The mythical 15-round 9mm subcompact mags for the XD...

The post below shows a model number # XD0931 .

Through my own searching, I even found a picture of the mythical beast...

Anyone know if there is anyone actually selling these things? They look great, are exactly what I want, and I might even *gasp* pay retail.

Midway USA just keeps putting up Expected dates that come and go. I've tried calling Teresa today, but have not yet received a response. Will post more when I hear.

*edit* - just got a call from Teresa, and she was most friendly. She offered to help me find dealers that were carrying the mags, or offered to place an order direct. I told her Natchez finally got some in, and thanked her for actually calling back, many other companies would blow off a call from a non-reseller.

Ask pistol-gear... or old school
I think i read a post that old school said they may have some in this or next week.

Go ahead and give pistil-gear a try.

www.natchezss.com has them in stock under $25.
AWESOME!!! :D :D Purchase made! (even with their outrageous shipping)

I could have sworn I looked at Natch last weekend and they were marked "out" also!!!

Thanks so much!

The trick to buying things from Natchez is to buy a lot of ammo with it. Ammo is heavy so it takes some of the sting out of the shipping charge.
Hadn't thought about that. That's a smart idea, and I probably should have.

This is my first order from them. I've always viewed them kind of like a "last resort" because I'm usually looking for single items and their shipping takes them out of contention. But in this case, they were the last resort. :)
My local gun store has a ton of these in stock. I paid $27.

What is better, is they can fit 16 rounds with a different follower and 17 seems very likely with that follower and a dremel (or mill).

Keep in mind, that is load WITHOUT buldging (i.e. nbot cramming them in there)

Thanks High Velocity. You owe me 60 bucks. I had to order a few :D
I just got a notice that something shipped!

Could it be these things are finally here???

In a few days I'll post photos of the mags in gun, or the box of rocks I got.
natchez has got factory hi-caps for 18.99 right now in stock... just ordered 5 or so...

check it out if you are looking

I think they are the same mag we're buying for the subcompact. Us SC owners just have to cough up $6 for the sleeves that cover the inch or so of the standard hi-cap mag that sticks out (if you tried to put one in the SC).
jlseagull,

My bad! I must have been smoking crack and not looked at your picture. As I side note, I bought 4 of the SC magazines with sleeves at $25 and 5 of the .40 full size guys for $19.

natchez had fairly quick shipping and treated me right!

I'll chalk it up to your hypnotizing avatar....
My webspace (link below) is quite hypnotic as well!

I wish to god that someone in the magazine industry will get off their butts and realize that if you take the 9mm SC mag, cut out the detents, then put in a .40SC mag follower, you will have a factory 13rd SC 9mm magazine that doesn't require the lips to be bent.

Who needs the magazine industry? Contact sheet metal shops in your area and ask them about contract production of magazine walls according to your design template. They aren't very complex parts, and you wouldn't even have to assemble them. Package them with followers, springs, etc. and call them "kits".
Will cost you a fortune to have you own dies made.

Machine shop time isn't cheap.

Doh! you're right. I was jumping straight to the cost per part.

But the XD is gaining popularity, right? A few thousand sales, and Verm should be good.
Love the feel and look of the mags. Having the full grip instead of having to tuck your pinkie under the mag makes for a much more natural grip, almost 100% better, in my opinion. It's also interesting to have a gun which is taller than it is long. I'll have to see what it does for stability while shooting.

The gun doesn't seem to drop the new mag with the release button though. For now, I'll attribute this to the mags not having any kind of lube or grease on them, and I hope they will drop freely eventually.
