I was thinking about getting a XD tatical 9 for USPSA and was wondering what accruacy they would produce at 25 yds from a rest. I have never shot a 5'' xd as they seem to be harder to find but my wife has a 4" service model and was wondering if there is much difference in muzzle flip or recoil. Thanks.

I've shot a 4" service and my 5" XD 40 and there was a difference in muzzle flip with the 5". They are noticably heavier towards the front.

I also put the Don's Guide Rod in and the Wolff 22# spring and it took about 200 rounds, but there is now a noticable difference in muzzle flip and recoil.

As far as the accuracy difference between the 2 at 25 yards, I can't help ya out there, I never shot the 4" at that distance.

I have 2 XDs listed below. There is little to no muzzle flip with my ported XD-9, infact it is close to a push directly back into the hand with the sight plane fairly level. The tactical XD-9 does have a bit more muzzle flip and when using the "weak hand forefinger in front of the trigger guard hold", my finger will often slip off. I've never shot my tactical at 25 yards from a rest so, I don't have the answer for you. Was planning on shooting today, but it's raining pretty good here is southern Nevada

I could go to the indoor range but, ........................naaaah :x

This is a five-shot group shot from a two-handed modified weaver stance at 25 yards using my xd-9 tactical. Ammo was WWB from walmart. Group is 2.25 inches. I'm sure I could get sub- two inch groups from a rest. One of the most accurate nines I have, including a $1000 + SIg 226 Sport Stock. I just purchased a Glock 34 which seems very accurate too - might give the tactical a run for its money!
