Considering I'm a new handgun owner, I have shot before, never owned, I'm going to be firing off a bunch of rounds next week when my XDM .40 comes in. I'm assuming for normal target range shooting, use a good target load.

But it probably would be wise to at least practice with a couple of clips full of the ammo that will be used primarily with the gun after everything clears.

i think you should run as much differant ammo though that gun as you can afford. so a couple of magazines of your carry ammo would be a good idea ........i agree

You NEVER want to trust your gun to be used as a self def/home def tool unless you have test fired your carry ammo in it. Regardless of what others like, your gun may not. So at least one full magazine from each magazine you will use for sd/hd as fast as you can pull the trigger.
