The Firearms Dealer who sold me my SA-XD9 said that it is alright to use steel casings such as Bear and Wolf in my XD9... but I have heard conflicting reports about this. He has a "professional" backround in shooting and extensive knowledge of firearms; on the other hand I do not want to cause any damage to my XD9. He states that only certain brands, makes and models of firearms can handle the steel casings. What is the word out there of other XD owners?

I don't use wolf or bear, but I have shot several thousands of steel blazer ammo through many different handguns with no problems. Steel casing is perfectly ok to use. The only draw back is that they can't be reloaded.

Blazer cases have historically been aluminum or brass.

The range where I shoot runs a magnet over the boxes of ammo you bring and won't allow anything the magnet responds to.

Thats because armor piecing or steel shot will start fires in the bullet traps.
Our indoor range had some guy shoot steel shot and it happened :shock:

anything wrong with using steel casings? I just bought 3 boxes or Wolf ammo.

I have run thousands of rounds of Wolf through my .45s with nary a hitch, but they do batter the hell out of the ejector.

I have fired some from my XD9, but Blazer is cheaper in my area and the turnup costs to start reloading (again) make it uneconomical to do so.
