I just ordered the new rod and spring from pistol gear 22# now what i'm trying to do is eliminate some recoil on my XD my gf loves to shoot it but she has smaller hands and it had some recoil for her. Did i do the right thing on ordering the spring22#???

What model and caliber are you talking about? That info might help some.

What I would say is that her stance and grip will make a bigger difference than replacing a spring. It's quite remarkable how much perceived recoil is reduced with a good firm grip and the right stance.

A lot of people like the 22# spring, and it might help a little, but I would also look at her stance/grip and encourage her to treat it like she's mad at it. Grip it firmly, and treat it like she's trying to show it who is the boss.

My daughter (14 years old now, been shooting with the 22# spring for several years now) does just fine. A reasonably firm grip is all that is needed.

Are there any tricks to installing the Don's rod and 22# spring ? I will probably order mine in a day or two. That should help some with it not locking in battery, right ?

My 11 year old son can handle the 24 or 22# spring on the XD40. No problem.
