I noticed smoke coming from my bottom forend while shooting my Polish 1960 yesterday. There was only about sixty rounds fired when it started happening. I know this is probably because my barrel was heating up but I was wondering if this is normal or if there is something I should be doing to stop this.

Not uncommon for a rifle. Generally it's excess lube or solvent burning off when the barrel gets hot.

Dis you get all the goop off the rifle and out of the handguards?? Didn't think so....
There was no cosmoline on it when I bought it. Now that I think about it I probably gave the barrel a rub down with a bit of oil the last time i cleaned it before shooting.

Ya can't get all the crud out till it gets hot. That $hit lives under every part, pin hole, attachment point, connection, and grain....
