Hello, I know there a lot of posts in this forum about sights and many of you are saying, not another one. I have spent days searching sight info and decided to collect the USEFULL information in one place. This will be an ongoing project and I will modify this post as I collect information. I am doing this for myself but I’m sure others will find it useful also. Thanks for putting up with another sight topic. :)

5-10-05 note to self went thru entire accessory topic, and 1 thru 15 pages of general topic, 16 thru 41 left.

This link has nothing to do with sights, I found it once and had a heck of a time finding it again, good stuff so I thought I would post it here where I can find it again.

You need to spend some time learning how to post. What is your problem? :?
Your bomar link doesn't even work

I know when you posted this you were looking at an incomplete product with 9 replies with nothing in them. As you can see now I was just trying to organize information in a way that made sense to me. And I have already moved the categories around twice. Being able to cut and past between the replies is just a way for me to organize the information.

Well if you look at what comes up it appears they forgot to renew their domain name registration as it expired this month. I'm sorry that the link failed. Google takes me to the same expired page. It’ll probably work later once they realize they their domain has expired and they fix it :).
Has anyone actually installed this adjustable sight on their XD?
ML-20110 Adjustable sight set for Sig Sauer P225, P226, P228 Pistol
http://www.meprolight.com/products.asp?id=1
Did it need any modifications?
Does it have elevation and windage adjustments?
Any comments, good, bad, etc?
Do they holster well?
Are they a lower profile than the Dawson?
Any good pics?
Thanks

"What's the best car?". For some a Ferrari would be perfect. For some a huge SUV would be perfect. For the guy who needs an SUV a Ferrari would be useless. Doesn't make it a bad car.....just ...USELESS.

Same with sights. I have a red-dot sight on my Ruger .22 target pistol. Great sight. USELESS on a carry gun because it won't conceal and it won't fit in many holsters (if any).

I have Novak fixed combat style sights on my 1911 .45. Not ideal for target shooting...better than USELESS but far from ideal.

The factory "plain jane" sights on my XD9 Subcompact are ideal for me. It is a point and shoot weapon meant to be used at close range. If I need to shoot an assailant, it won't matter much if I am off by an inch or two at 10 feet. I'd be too nervous to line up my sights perfectly (if at all) anyway.

As for night sights....if it's too dark to see a target, seeing the sights is not going to help me one bit. Which is the case with any sights. For anyone. Unless you are going to use night vision equipment.....which would not be something I believe you would find for an XD. (I could be wrong). Are you planning any military or SWAT type maneuvers?

A perfect example of a completely useless sight application would be a laser sight on a shotgun used for trap or skeet.

A flashlight may be more important to you than sights. What are you going to use a gun for? (Don't tell me...tell yourself).

Peace,
D.

Heck I don’t know, I just enjoy the process of researching ALL the options for this newfound hobby. This is a hobby, a place to forget about all the stresses of work. At the moment my goal is to know everything and anything about sights for the XD and then thru the process of elimination narrow down my choices. Do a little more research, hopefully get some input from others on my final choices. And purchase a sight set.
Thanks for the advice though.
