Trading my xd9 service model with meprolight night sights comes with two mags n everything that comes in the case

For a GP100 3" . Should I do it? I've never owned a revolver

Personally I would not. I have nothing against the GP100 as I have one and it is nice. I just do not see the benefits of owning the GP over a xd9.

I'd make that trade.

Everything said and done, you're maybe losing $50 on the deal, tops.

I'd do it. Dollar wise they're pretty much a wash and I'd rather have the revolver.

What other handguns do you own?
Xd9sc so to me theirs no point of owning an xd9 service model too. Plus I've been looking at revolvers for a while really wana try one but all gun ranges I've gone to so far none have revolvers.

I would say the majority says go for it... :) My dad has a 4 inch GP100 and it is a very nice shooting gun. If I didn't already have a different revolver I would probably consider a GP...

Whats the goods & bads on the gp100 3" also whats it like shooting a 357 out of a 3" barrel.
GP100 is a fine gun and a great first revolver. Full mag loads out of a 3" gun won't be a joy but won't hurt you either, just shoot 38's and save money and avoid the recoil.

Fair trade. If you want it, go for it. The GP and .357 are both great fun.

It's gonna cost a little more than the XD to feed though ;)

I would. Value is about par. More or less.

A 3" .357 wheel gun would be excellent as a carry piece.

I would do the trade as well..

I waited WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY to long to buy my first revolver...:(

3 inch 357mag is fun to shoot although mine is a S&W.
But you will find yourself running more 38sp or 38sp +P thru it..
I almost bought a GP100 but ended up with a 686+.
Shot it and the new Model 29 today..

I love my 3" GP100. If you already have a smaller XD9 for carry and get the GP100. They are very nice shooters.

And because this thread needs more pics here is a shot of mine....

If you're not particularly recoil sensitive you won't have any problem with .357 Magnum in a 3" GP-100. It's not terribly offending in a 3" SP-101. I don't have a 3" GP-100 but frequently shoot full power handloads from a 2 3/4" Speed-Six. Also remeber that there are "Medium Velocity" loads available like the 125 gr. Golden Saber, Gold Dots, Federal's, etc.

Considering current prices on XD's, the 3" GP-100 would cost you more new and IMO, it has greater value. ;)
