Howdy,

Been getting ready for the OD XD9 to come home, so I just got a Gun Vault 2000.

If you look at #7, it's pointing to a sound vent, so you can hear the unit beep, or the Deluxe unit's alarm. There are vents on both sides.

I've already ordered some anti-rust tabs to sick in there, but do I want the vault vented? Won't the lovely anti-rust fumes just seep out?

I don't know if having the vault vented will help with moisture collection or hinder it.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

I dont think it would be much of an issue unless the vault is airtight.

+1.........if that safe is very well sealed it would be best to leave the holes, in my opinion. However, if its not to tight there is nothing wrong with plugging them.

Actually I've had that one for almost two years. I've never had an issue with rust ever. Plus I open mine plenty of times a week.

Batteries should last you about 10-14 months depending on how much you open it.
But do use good alkaline batteries instead of cheap o's.

There is a big difference in humidity between where you live in Nebraska and the original poster in Florida.

I don't think it would make a difference to seal those holes because I don't think the door is air tight.
