Shot a Sig 229 First Time

I went shooting with a new co-worker yesterday and shot his 229 .40 cal. It was VERY accurate. I liked the large grip size as it gave me plenty of room for the palm of my weak hand. I'm not giving up my existing guns anytime soon but it was a good experience. We are fortunate to have so many great options to choose from. (Evil free-market capitalism . . .)

The only reason I don't own more guns of ALL kinds is simple. I don't have a big enough safe or money. I'm working on both of those minor setbacks.
P series Sigs are as good as it gets.

I could not agree more (if you're a righty).
The P229 is a terrific pistol and my favorite in .40, what a sweet shooter.

Palmetto State Armory has CPO, Certified Pre Owned, P229 in .40 for $499 right now.

Here is mine with Hogue G10 grips:

Hellofadeal.

I bought a 357 Sig P229 for 500 and it was like new. If I was in the market I'd snap one of those up in a heartbeat.
That'd be a good candidate for a barrel swap.

Needs more holster wear though!

500 bucks dev and you're a sigaholic. You should jump on it - sell a few Glocks if you have to.

I've shot enough them to know they're not end all.

In most cases, I'd much rather go for a CZ. I'll find my holster worn finish West German for a good price again, still kinda wish I'd grabbed the 220. I want a doublestack 9 or a .357 if I get a P Series though.

I'm not selling any Glocks. Just gonna buy more of them!
P229 is my favorite, hands down. Definitely my next handgun purchase- I'm eyeing the stainless version. When I was auditioning various guns for my first, it was one I tried based on a friend's recommendation. I shot a couple Glocks (19, 23), XD and XDs, P229 and P938, and a Walther PPS. I shot the Glocks first, didn't really like them (I know, blasphemy. I just hate how they shoot). Then shot the P229 and fell in love. Felt amazing in my hand and I shot that one far better than any other. It was an absolute blast.... (ba dum tssss!). I thought the XD felt most similar to the P229 and really liked it, but ultimately I wanted something smaller for my first CCW with summer coming up. I didn't want to get something I'd leave at home in lighter clothing and ease of concealability was a top priority. Hence, I picked up the XDs (which I love).

But as soon as I have the money, I'm picking up a P229. I am absolutely in love. Especially with the stainless- so beautiful, classy, and elegant.

The P229 is an excellent pistol. The entire P Series from Sig are as good as they get, IMO. Always fun to shoot the P229 and P220 as I am a huge fan of the single action on these guns. Recently dove into the x5 pool, and let me tell you, the water is fine!! if you ever get a chance to put some down range with this pistol you better do it.

A poster after my own heart.

Amen brother, P series Sig's are about as good as it gets.

I've got an X5 Allround - love it.
I still carry my M11-A1-D for EDC. It's basically a P229. Could not be happier. It's just the right size and capacity, albeit a bit heavy.
