Can you determine the date of manufacture of an XD from its serial number?

I know Walther uses letters to ID the DoM.

A=0
B=1
C=2
etc...

My P22's serial number is AE####### thus a 2004 DoM.

Is there anything to look out for on an older DoM or serial number?

I think I am going to buy an XD9 SC soon. :lol:

On the inside of the dust cover there is a plastic mold date. That gives you an idea.
